short story of old cars-just a read

  1. I was on vacation last month in Maryland. My uncle is restoring a 68 corvette for a buwieser exec's ex wife, he just sold a gorgeous 1970 4 door coronet, he has a 69 cuda for sale right now ect. My family is car people. We are usually in the garage or on the carport/porch. This is just how we are.

My pappy was telling me how his dad used to buy model t's as a kit and put them together to make money. He said you could buy them complete for around $600? or as a kit for $500 or so. He said that he was always told, that all you need to work on (or build from a kit) for a model t was a decient set of monkey wrenches. I found this story cool because not only did people use to fix essentially everything, but they had the option to ***embly their own cars.

I can believe that a monkey wrench was all they needed.
In November in a little town south of here they have the Florida Flywheelers show. At that show they have a Model T that is in pieces and they have a contest to see which team can put it back together the fastest and it has to run when ***embled. They do not use a bunch of tools to do this.

  3. That's the way it was. You could buy a build-it-yourself house kit from Sears for $900.

  4. those had to be great times. I bought a book on how to build yourself a house for under $2500 from 1955. I have considered giving it a try just to see how little it would cost now adays
