shorten tie rod

    I need to shorten the tie rod on my 34 ford pickup.Can anyone tell me the tap size and thread count. I'm using original style tie rod ends. Thanks

    I think it's 11/16-18

    Not a common size, thanks to Henry..

    The machine supply I got mine (Cal Aero in Paramount) just calls them "Ford tie rod taps"

    (Wait for confirmation...)

    Yep, 11/16-18. Same as Jeep, BTW. I got right hand taps from MSC Industrial Supply but had to have the LH custom made, some years ago. Since you only need one, the RH should do.

    If you are close to Orange, I have the required taps to do the job. I will be at my shop tomorrow.

    If they are original tierod ends, arent they female, with a male threaded rod?
    Male tierod ends started after 34..
