Technical Shot Peening

Hello, I am new to the forum and am looking for a source for shot peening in the Austin area. Any help?? Thanks!

Umm.. thanks. What's this google you speak of? I have searched around the web. I am looking for a small shop with a shot peen cabinet that might be able to do some wheel centers, intake, valve covers, etc. Hopefully in Austin, TX.

 

Well if you are in Austin then you are only 7 numbers away.

Google the South Austin speed shop and ask them don't tell 'em that I said to call just incase by some misfortune you get Jesse on the phone, we don't really get along to well. Anyway they would be able to point you in the right direction.

 

You don't need those parts shot peened. You need them sand blasted. There is a difference.

 

Bead blasted! Any competent machine shop can do it.

Just so you know, bead blasting is spraying a stream of small particles on a surface to clean off surface contaminates like rust or mill scale. Shot peening is almost the same except the small stream is steel balls that puts minute dents all over the surface with effect of stopping any fractures (cracks) from having a place to start.
