Been thinking about chopping it never done one and my saw is scared to cut away.Im going fenderless on 32 rails and maybe going with a flathead v8 for power picked this coupe up from a lady in her 90's the coupe spent most of it's life in California so the body is in great shape except for the one rear fender well panels i need to replace.Maybe i can sell some of the parts from it to offset some of the cost on my new setup.
no!!!! chopping is a great craze again, but does limit the resale value of your car, once it is chopped it can not go back. when looking for a new i never consider chops.
Ummm, from your name are we to guess you are talking about a 1928 coupe? Is there a prize for guessing correctly? WTF car are you talking about?
cut that thing!!! Metal is actually re-doable so you could "unchop" a car if you really wanted to.... Slice and dice
Do you like chopped coupes? If so chop the thing... if not...dont. Your car and you gotta drive the sucker.... You have to do what make YOU happy. Build it your way, not the way you think other people would build it...
Highboy on 32 rails depends on the era of the build. Very early rods NO, but 50s/60's style YES heck with the saw, plasma is quicker
NOW the photos appear..... sorry.... OK, it's a 30 - 31.... With fenders, they all deserve a 2" chop.
unchopped would not be the same as most fenderless A coupes built today why not buck a trend and go unchopped.
As someone who owned a chopped, fenderless 30 Model A coupe back in the 70s, I say have fun cutting and welding! Nothing wrong with an unchopped Model A, but an A on deuce rails that's chopped a tasteful amount with flathead power is a look that's hard to beat, in my opinion.
sorry no I see them every day whens the last time you seen a real steel top car uncut. with that said I love a chop top but do a glass body and save the steel.
That's a very easy car to chop, and unchop. Just save the pieces in a nice little bundle and store them away somewhere, it's only metal.
I say no chop - look at the '29 in my avatar and in the pics in my profile. Of course it's your car, but if it were mine I would not chop it. Tom
I like em unchopped. But I'm an east-coaster. Do whatever turns you on. Nice score, by the way! Congrats.
Wow, some anti-chop supporters here. Unchopped is cool because Model A's are cool. However 2.5"-3" on a hot rod Model A is a nice modest chop. 4" is my personal favorite because the car starts to get an aggressive look. 5" has a tough look but can look out-of-place on some cars. 6" and more and there are some sacrifices to be considered but all-in-all there are some incredible A coupes with each of the above-mentioned chops.
There were millions of A's produced... I don't see how chopping a clean car like his is opposite of saving it.
