Hot Rods Should I Cut up a Bone Stock All Original 28 Coupe??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jalopy Kid, Apr 7, 2009.

  1. Too Late I already did!!! This was my winter project, started off with bone stock unrestored running and driving 28 leatherback coupe. The guy I bought it from has had it since 1961, he bought it off a used car lot for $600 (lots of money for an A back then!!) rebuilt the 4 banger in 1976 then parked it in a barn in 1977. Then I came along in the summer of 2008, found out he lost his storage on it so convinced him to sell it to me so I could restore it to its original glory. I didnt say I was gonna restore it orginal though...

My opinion why not. Looks good I wouldn't of advertised it though . People are funny sometimes and wont sell you parts.

  9. I sold all the usable parts to some local restoration guys and donated some other parts to friends. A friend of mine is a antiquer and he says I shouldnt feel bad, it was one of those cars that was too good to be bad but too bad to be good. The leather back top ruined most of the rood and flapped in the wind when I was driving.

Well done. Looks perfect. Be sure to drive it over to show the guy you bought it from, just to see what his reaction is. Be sure to take a camcorder and post the video here. ;)

Is the rear stepped? Reason I ask is I stepped mine 4" and was not going to channel right away. The location of the rear wheels gives me an idea what the rear of mine should look like if yours is not stepped.
Does that make any sense at all?

It would have never been worth what it would have cost to have restored it, this way it is being driven instead of rotting in a shed and is a classic example of an old time hot rod. Ya' done good in my book, I'd be seen in it.
