I don't know if anyone actually looked at that link I posted up there, but they have paint, reducer and all that jazz for $71 !!!! To seal it in DP colors costs more. Hit that baby with some primer and then skip eating out for a month. paint is done.

If it's the same stuff, and I think it is, a guy in my club used it to paint his (now ex) girlfriend's 62 Falcon. It came out really nice. It may not last 20 years, but it'll look good for now until a guy could save up for a nice kandy or flake job. I'm going to use it on my '62 C10 when it's ready.

Back in the olden days most cars that weren't finished had primer...But once you cover the patina you can never go back...but patina screams kulture to some folks...but once you cover it you can never go back...I think unless the patina had historical significance (lettering etc.) I'd like to see it one color, primer or paint, especially if it was already apart. That being said, it's your car, do what you really like best.

we put it on farm equipment here that sits in the field 4-seasons

Some sort of bright candy or flake job and loose the expanded metal grille.
A little chrome and move on to the next project.
MMM, dont see that option on the poll,Well thats my suggestion.
    Nice car btw.

  11. Be cool, do nothing. Letting it continue to deteriorate and rust is the new traditional. The really cool guys at the Autorama last year didn't even wash off the salt.

If what you call "Patina" is what I call "Rust" clean it up. As far back as I can remember we painted our cars at least with primer. I don't remember the '40s.

I vote for leaving this one alone and rebuilding your sedan instead.

It takes 90 years to get that kind of patina look. Dont confuse rust and patina....
It takes a good month to make it look slick and shiny. Dont get me wrong i like both. But just something to consider.
    Fake patina is gay.

  20. Holy shit, $68 for metallic silver! May have to do this after the back window rust is fixed on the Riv.

I've never been a big fan of patina. I say blast and primer.

What was all this "you only have the original patina once" bullshit? Keep it that way. Ten years from now when everyone else has thier car painted hot pink you can look the wiser.

    Paint it, not flat.

  25. With that many post to your name I even wonder why you would ask that question. The normal mentality of this board as the poll shows is paint. For some reason the guys around here think everything should be painted or atleast in primer. I myself voted for leaving it alone. I like it from what I can see.

Sure, remove the patina. But make sure you save it in a can or something in case you ever want to put it back on.

Fixing the painta is like your grandmother getting a body make over, you love her the way she is, Its only "real" once..

    2 cents..:p

  28. My good ol' pal Pigpen painted his '27 roadster with rattle can black. Lots of elbow grease involved. Little cash outlay. You're young. Your elbows have plenty of grease. Probably you have friends who will come and help rub, for the price of beer. Sorry if I've used up your excuses for not doing it. Now, get after it and show us when it's done.

PS, It's a pretty nice coupe. It DESERVES paint.

  29. Why the fuck would you want to put rust back on a car?
