Ha! Tell me about it. Hair today, gone tomorrow. Rock on with your bad self.

Any way to do both? (I love 70's wagons too)

I'd be giving the Chrysler a real good looking over, and long test drive...parts will be more expensive and harder to find....

They're both old man cars, I think it's a wash that way. :) Good luck, whichever way you decide!

Both cars are getting older every day. There's a chance the wagon could appreciate more because it's a wagon. If its got windows in the roof, it might already have a bigger following than a 4-door Windsor.

I trust our opinions aren't key to this decision, but these are fun questions to ponder. There's no harm in the lot of us wasting a few sentences in the name of entertainment.

I think that we all need to seek others opinions from time to time.
Just recently I was struggling with what Quickchange I would put in my '37 Chevy. I have enough parts to basically build whatever I want. The Chevy isn't a Cream Puff, but is a 9 on a 1 -10 scale.
I mentioned this to a friend. He said, "Why would you put all your best pieces in rear end that almost nobody is going to see?" "You're a Hot Rodder and you are basically more interested in the functionality and getting the car on the road."
I had the rear end mocked up and in place the next day.
And, I can always build another one, if I feel that the car needs something different. I just couldn't sort all the options and prioritize with all the pieces available.
Now, if you want me to tell YOU what brand, style and options you should have on your QC, I can give you a build list of all the right pieces. Sometimes, we are just too close to see the forest for the trees.

Unfortunately, I don't really have a recommendation for Bruce Fischer. But I think most of the posts were helpful in pointing out things that might sway him one way or the other. He's not a Newb and I'll respect his decision either way.

I like the old Buick wagon and I am well aware of your appreciation of wagons,Hamb friendly or not but the Chrysler's are not that common anymore.

Hard decision,I'll reserve my opinion until I see the car. HRP

I would keep the Olds. Maybe its just me but I would never trade a GM anything for a mopar anything.
P.S. The opinions expressed in this statement are solely my own so no hate mail please, not that I really give a **** anyway!

If the mopar is in anywhere close to the same shape as the wagon than its a no brainier to me....it would be traded fast than you could imagine, mind you I've never owned a gm anything.

BRUCE! BRUCE! Wake up it's a bad dream! Now being an Olds fan and a station wagon nerd I'd have to say if your thinking of your grandchildren well I believe the wagon has more room. But you have to realize that Windsor has a m***ive trunk! So payload is probably about the same! What's more comfortable to drive? As stated parts for the Windsor will be a bit more scarce and a little more money than the Olds. But being honest the Windsor will have a COOL factor the Olds well just won't! Then again I'm wrong more than I'm right! Joe

    Maybe you were just joking??

But if not, and if it has the original engine, it's a poly head. That's not a bad thing, they are closer to hemi breathing efficiency than most people suspect, but just don't have quite as much visual impact or 'wow' factor.

  23. My two cents, I would trade. Then I would make it a mild custom, I will try and do a sketch of it, for the Friday Art Show. That is if I can find the time to do it. The old Windsor has a better{ KOOL} factor. But Bruce that's just my opinion. The most important part is, the having fun with the grandkids! thanks Ron...

    Hello,
The Windsor does have a cool factor, but for reliability and the grand kids, it should be the wagon. It is too bad you sold the Buick wagon. My dad was a Buick fanatic starting with a 41 coupe, but all of those Buicks ran well and we loved them...our favorite was the 4 door 49 sedan. Today, if I were to drive up in one of those three cars to show my grand daughter, she and her friends would easily jump into the Buick wagon, not the Windsor... or the Olds wagon. So here is a third option, keep the Olds until you can trade it for another Buick wagon. We are talking about a 20 year styling gap. Anything 50's has a cooler factor than the 70's. A 56 Buick wagon with Ron's idea of mild customizing and adding some Skylark wires...the grandkids would jump all over that one for sure...true cool factor.

    Bruce,

I didn't mention this, but I am partial to the Windsor......I have a '55 that I have owned for somewhere north of 15 years.......have no intention of ever selling. I really like the Mopars of that era .......

Either way, I am sure you will make the choice that is 'right' for you.

IMO, figure in the "work-$$$-Time" factor and if it all makes sense to you, go for it. You know your wagon and you're having fun with it now, what will it take to get the Chrysler to same point ? Just an another senior citizen on the HAMB, drinking coffee, typing, AND Good Luck ! With what ever decision you make.

Bruce, if it were me I'd take the Windsor as it is something you don't see every day. An OT Olds wagon not so much.
The good thing about polyester clothing is you can dig them out of a land fill, shake the dirt off and wear them. Those things last forever. That outfit would have been great for a Haloween costume.
How much do you want for the Bell Bottoms?

Monty, I'll take what's behind the curtain!

The Chrysler should be a cool car if its in decent shape. Look it over good and decide. You have my blessing.
