Five years ago I built this 57, I sold the car three years later to start on a new project, the guy got me to put disc brakes on the car last weekend. The guy has looked after the car well, but I'm to sure on his taste of wheels, is it just me or is there more than just one theme.

The new wheels look silly, made me laugh. If he's willing to pay you for your work why not work on it?

  3. does this fellow also own an 78 caprice?:D its amazing how wheels throw off a car..

It's his car now and obviously he's welcome to do whatever he wants to it....but if I sold my car to a guy that put wheels like that on it, I couldn't bear to look at it. I'd be ashamed I let my car end up like that. Not that I wouldn't have taken the guys money for the car, but I'dnever want to see it again, let alone work on it after he did that to it.

If the guy want's a free-bee, then no. If he's paying for your time and trouble then you have to figure out if the cash is worth the emotional stress.:) I got paid many times to do things that I thought were ugly.

If he pays you, do the work. In this case wearing welding goggles. Those new wheels look like the stupid fad ****ed up **** that they are. And they don't suit the car.

This guy must be blind in 1 eye and can't see out of the other.

Kinda like seeing your son-in-law kiss your daughter. You may not like him, but it's not your call anymore. Those are stupid wheels that will never be appropriate for a '57, but the customer is always right.

  11. I know exactly how you feel. It's like when they bring the car back to you to have some work done or have the theme of the car changed you don't hear **** that they say and you go right about the job like it was still your old car !! It makes doing work on one of your old rides very difficult !! >>>>.

Who cares? It's a four door.

    I'm joking. :D

it looked great with the tube grille and old wheels. take his money but tell him that those wheels do nothing for an OLD car like that.

Hey it's the only thing on the car the new owner could possibly work on... to "customize it". Good thing they come off as easy as they go on.

Chrome shop here, used to do bumpers, grills, you name it. Now wheels or "rims", no chroming, just out of the box "rims".

I'd don't know that I'd want to work on something I once had if the new owner *******ized it with those fugly wheels and elastic band tires ...... sorry, just my opinion.

I can't answer for you but I told the guy that bought my 58 Ranchero that I couldn't work on it when he asked me. He got a little miffed when I told him "honestly, you're fu--ingup my car and I'll have no part of it". But I admit I've gotten old and narrowed minded plus I have plenty of cool projects to work on so I won't touch anything anymore that doesn't suit my taste!

He did ask me on what I thought about the wheels, I
politely said there not my seen, I like the white wall better. Even a period set of mags would still look fine.

Never sell a car to someone who lives in the same town you do. Then you don't have to watch as they go down hill ...

    Damn right!

You sold it so you are out of the decision making process, like it or not. I build stuff for people. And i've sold stuff to people. I don't always like what they do but if that's where they want to spend, I'm taking. I offer advice if I'm asked and I am honest about it. That don't mean it's right by them. It's been said on here before: "the world is not Hamb-centric" My shop and lot looks like an easter basket right now but it's been paying my bills. The owner wants to put $$$ in your hands? In these times saying no would be kind of silly. If you want, you can send him here. I'll be glad to do the job and make his money my money.

I agree.. plus nine times out of ten I got rid of it cause I was tired of working on it in the first place!... Sell em and let them do their own damn work.. Gotta move on and finish the **** i am working on before I can work on someone elses car. .If I wanted to work on the same car I would not have sold it.. haha
