wow, wild! That's how our eyes work..we're real good at seeing contrast between light and dark shades, but not very good at seeing contrast between different colors of the same shade. So signs that need to be legible always have the letters and background of opposite shades, ie. light on dark, or dark on light. Having medium shade of different colors is just really hard to read on a sign, although it looks neat up close.
I have seen some real cool boards over the years and it doesn't matter how cool they are when they are placed right in front of the car, i take LOTS of pics at shows but will walk on if a board blocks a good shot of a nice car. JW
