In the process of planning my '52 Vicky project, I've looked at as many '52-'56 Fords as I could find. I've looked through my "little book" collection until they are all dog-eared and falling apart. I've scoured the internet for images...and continue to do so on a regular basis. The ones that I especially like or which have features I want to remember I transfer to my "photos" file, and have over the last years, compiled a pretty nice collection of outstanding examples. So who here does the same thing? Got a favorite car or two you'd like to share...and, of course, tell us why you think it's so great! Here's one of my all-time favorites. I like it because it is a very uncluttered semi-custom with nice lines, excellent stance and a very "period" look. There's nothing in the photo that gives away the fact that this is a modern-built car except the street lamp in the background. I'm sure it probably pisses some Crown Vic lovers off, but there's a dark side of me that likes that part as well. Oh, sure, I've got lots more...but how 'bout you? Let's see yours! Eric
IMO, without the cruiser skirts that would look so much better. The victorian is by far my favorite ford ever built. I hope to own that car someday (Hey, you've got to dream, may aswell dream big). My next favorite is the Pete Angress Ford.
If I wuz gunna have a screen saver that was not my own, it just might be the Pete Angress Ford. It was 'way ahead of its time, and was shown in several incarnations...some better than others, in my humble opinion. This is the one I remember best, and is by far my favorite. Great choice! (photos courtesy of Rik Hoving Custom Archives - the best traditional custom car photo collection ever!) And...I don't think this car had hydraulics or air bags. A-freakin'-mazing!
I'd have to say that the Ford that is owned by "50Fraud" is one of the nicest I've seen. Check it out. I would have downloaded the pics he sent me but I don't know how.
Hey Geno, If you want to download a pic, it's only a couple of steps: 1. Right click on the photo that you want to download. 2. Choose the "save picture as" option 3. The "file name" field will be highlighted- you can keep the name that shows up, or hit backspace ****on (which clears the field) and rename it whatever you want. Also, pay attention to the "save in" field at the top- you want to be able to find it again, right? 4. Click "save"- yer done.
Ok,so now the picture is stored in "My Pictures" and I want to post it here, when you click go advanced on the main board you can upload off "browse" can't do that here because "my pictures" does not have a url so any way to do it??
Eric that's a nice ride man. I'll have to say my fav 52 to 56 car would have to be father larry Earnest,( not sure if i spelt it right) his 52 ford convert.I dont have any pic's ,plus the only pic's i've seen is in custom rodder mag years ago.
Heres some of my favorite 52-54 Fords Jimmy Vaughns 54 built by gary howard Chip Foose Built 54. on Overhaulin'
I think the Larry Ernst '52 convert is what sold me on these cars in the first place...back in the day. I still have the original magazine in which the car appeared, called the "Pharoah's Pacer" and not credited to Larry Ernst at all in the article. I suspect this may have been some kind of a bragging rights thing or a falling out between Ernst and Barris, who certainly would have known it was once Ernst's car. I suppose it's also possible that there was no "Grant Macklin". Father Ernst was known for his desire to keep his car p***ion a secret from his parishioners... Anybody know the true story? In fact it wasn't until now that I put two and two together and came up with this car as having once belonged to Ernst. (I'm a slow learner!) I was also surprised to learn that the car still exists, much as it did back then - but minus the signature skirts, Lincoln hubcaps and scallop accents - and is still being toured as the Pharoah's Pacer. As a personal observation: Why would somebody go to so much trouble to restore such a well-known custom...and get it wrong? I mean, amber parklights, batman headlight overlays, phony lakes pipes and checkered flag license plate frames? Perhaps these changes were made later in the car's show career to update it, as was often done back then. I personally much prefer the magazine story incarnation which is, in my opinion, the pinacle of its evolution. If it were mine, which admittedly it isn't, I wouldn't sleep until it was spot-on perfect to the magazine version...Pharoahs plaque and all! (photos courtesy of the Rik Hoving collection) Another timeless cl***ic saved, however imperfectly, from oblivion! Excellent choice, KSK! Perhaps one of the other guys has more photos of it or information on its history...?
Thanks Eric Now i wont be able to sit at the computer desk for weeks,I've got WOOD! I wish i had some money,i would love to own a peice of history. Was close one time, Google Ron Seaward ford.Bit of Aussie custom heritage. Thanks again Eric...
the big thing i would say that i really wish i did was run lake pipes and air bags. i think you took a look at my 53, i put 18" gl***packs on it and it is loud, but not as loud as my crazy *** likes it. but other than those things its all about what fits you
Now THAT's nice! Just enough custom to make it look non-stock but not so much you can't tell it's a '53. I like.
Love that purple one but why in the hell did they cheap out when it came to the windshield molding?!?! It looks so perfect then you look at that ugly rubber gasket!
Someday if I ever decide to finish my car, I'm going to take a cue from the HAMB's own Sailor. 54 Firefly: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=162803&d=1139964069
