Some state dont like it when you smoke the tires for half a block on main street either, but it still happens.

X2, that's just the ticket there for my 56. Now it's time to find a 15' Shasta. Thank's for sharing.

  6. Thanks guys!

The hitch is custom built and power coated. I started with an off-t******lf receiver (box portion) that you can aquire almost anywhere they sell trailer parts. Mine is a Reese from Tractor supply. The rest of the hitch was just box tubing and plate.

What makes the whole thing unusual and work is the draw bar (the part with the ball). The draw bar is actually a factory MoPar part for my Dodge Magnum Wagon. The factory hitch for my Magnum is totally hidden and similar in design to the one on my Nova Wagon.

Here are links to the parts:

I simply cut out a space in the bumper of my 56 F750 to allow the hitch to be inserted.

The only concern I would have with Waddaya's setup is, design to weight.

Meaning, for light weight trailers say under 2500 it might be fine, but wouldnt it, when loaded, have a prying effect on the welds and metal?

The whole metalergy thing. It does look like a real problem solver though.

WHats the trailer weight you normaly pull? how much does it weigh?

Thanks for posting your setup Wadda, very slick! I been tossing some idea's around for an OT with rear pan, and this is exactly the ticket, thanks! (light weight application btw)

  12. I would rate my hitch as a Cl*** II, 3500 lbs. GTW with a 350 lbs. TW.

No, you're not going to pull a loaded inclosed car trailer. But then, why would you and how much weight do you think is safe to pull with a hot rod.

I pull a 5x10 trailer usually loaded with my tools, jack, fuel jugs, slicks and golf cart. I'd say a little under 2000 lbs.

Thats is cool... I figured about that as well.

  14. I think the hitch could easilly handle a 500 lbs. TW but I would rather under rate it for safety purposes. Besides, as I mentioned, there's really no reason for any more on a hot rod. If someone needs more, go buy a diesel Super Duty pickup.
