By far this is the coolest '55 chevy I have seen in a long time....The car is owned by Jerry Sontos of Pa.....SWEET CAR!!....Show me what you got....I have a '55 and looking for a new direction???...John
neat car! although the wheel/tire combo seems to be quite unrelated to the stance.... (btw, you can't link to images like that, it needs to be something with a .jpg ending) (but you could save the images and then attatch them to your post)
I've seen that 55 you pictured. it is a nice car, but I was a little confused by his mixing of themes such as the g***er stance with red rims and wide whites and baby moons, all those grill bars. He also has Packard (I think) tailights in it too. I believe I read somewhere that he was trying to build a remake of his brother's car or something like that.....anyway, I'm not sure what you mean by "a new direction" but if you want a g***er styled 55, (not a new direction by any means, but always cool) then here are some pic's I found. I don't have any pic's of customized 55's as I'm not really a fan of that build style. Hope this helps....... and of course there's always the Bob Falfa's 55,
Here's Mine... Found it in a barn, as just a shell, now it has a big block, t/h 400, fibergl*** front end bla, bla, bla...
Here's mine. So far it's clicked off a 11.74 @ 120mph... I expect more from the SBC, 4sp and Olds rear!
Nice post! There are some crazy ***y cars here, both the g***ers and customs... There are pics of my "El Diablo" in the link below if anyone is interested... It is a Bel Air Sport Coupe with white lacquer dash, white tuck and roll, 4 speed rock crusher, 4.88 posi and a crossram 358 chev bored and stroked. It is mostly a loose 60's style with the exception of the chromed torque thrusts and front air ride...
Rusty1 whats your plans...got a nice clean start looks like...my next ride will most likely be a 55, so i dig looking
For my vote. Brizio's 55 is the cats meow.. it is currently my favorite out there (non g***er look). Shakey Puddin is still the baddest 55 g***er I have seen pictures of... both of these cars are why i wanted a 55-57 (wanted a 55 but could not find one)..
In high school, I graduated in 76. My buddy had a 55 sedan. It was yellow with green flames. He put a big block in it with a tunnel ram and two fours. It was a 4 spd car. He had a single loop rollbar with one down tube towards the p***enger front floor. My Dad radiused the rear wheel wells for him. He split conduit tubing, and bent it over the tires to get the contour. I think it ran in the high 11's, or low 12's. I don't think I have any pictures of it. Pretty cool car for a high school kid.
...I wanna go for the street g***er look that I grew up with, get the front end up, toss the bumper and maybe some American Torque Thrusts (grey spokes). I'm leavin the paint as is, this car was repainted once in 1968....
I bought this super clean 55 conv. in 96 out of the local paper for $17K!!! and drove it 2 hours home . O.G. 265 , black 51 plates , rocker moldings , deluxe bumpers , drove *****in . Rented it to the studios for a bunch of days on a movie called "Casper the ghost " Anybody ever seen it ? I never did . On the way home from the movie shoot , it came off the flatbed and bent in the middle . Got paid in full , but I was so pissed off I sold it . Wish I hadn't. Sorry about the picture of a picture , but it's all I got left besides memories . My neighbors got a really nice Bel air hardtop in clean orig. paint sitting in the garage for the last 10 years , I think I'm going to knock on his door again and see if I can get it tonight .
