The kitchenette area in my shop houses my Evel Knievel collection. My H-D MX 250 (Evel paint replica) that I race in AHRMA doesn't usually block the fridge though. It hangs out with the others in the back.

I want one, too, dammit! :D Mountain Oysters were actually pretty popular with the farmers and ranchers where I grew up. Don't know if any place still sells them, but if I had one of those signs when I moved back, it'd be frikkin' hilarious. :D

BTW... I did just add this to my collection. When I saw it I thought it'd be perfect for hanging bungees and tie-down straps.

Hey Dirtracker.... I have a couple of Bultacos myself. A little later in years, but I have an 350 Alpina and a 350 Sherpa T. Dad still has a couple of Sherpas, a 250 Alpina, and a 370 Pursang. Used to have an old Matador for a while.

  8. Don't know if this is what it refers to but:

As a knife collector one of the the more famous knives in the early history of the country was made by the John Russell company in Massachusetts. The company was called the Green River Works.

This was stamped on the tang of the knife(the unsharpened area of the blade nearest the handle)and when somebody had plunged a knife into either an animal or a human(knife fights were pretty common rather than wasting ammunition)all the way in ,it was known as,"getting it up to Green River".

Sounds a bit weird I know but maybe the sign was a form of,"no trespassing" sign warning what would happen to the person who dared trespass.

    Just an opinion.

  9. This one hangs in my shop;made from an old kitchen cabinet door.

I found a lot of old 40's signs all over my property (some were buried in the yard) but none were salvagable-most were cut up to patch the garage wall to keep mice out or to cobble up shelving. I actually had a guy drop by one day, interested if I had any since he was scouting former garages and stations for anything related. My neighbour sold his texaco 'lollipop' for $1500 CAN to another scout.

Per Wikipedia: The name Green River Ordinance is given to a common American city ordinance prohibiting door-to-door solicitation. Under such an ordinance, it is illegal for any business to sell their items door-to-door without express permission from the household beforehand. Some versions prohibit all organizations, including non-profit charitable, political, and religious groups, from soliciting or canvassing any household that makes it clear, in writing, that it does not want such solicitations (generally with a "No Trespassing" or "No Solicitations" sign posted.)
The ordinance is named for the city of Green River, Wyoming, the first city to enact it.

Sometimes being an old geezer pays off. A Green River Ordinance is an ordinance against door-to-door solicitation. It's named for Green River, Montana, the first town to adopt such an ordinance. I haven't seen one of those signs for a long, long time.

Or it could be that the town had passed an law that said you had to check you Green River knives at the bar so there wouldn't be stabbings when the drunken fights broke out. Just a thought.

Here's a couple of my favorites. The Firestone piece is some sort of scale (from what the fuy who I got it from told me) somehow it was used to check your brakes - any old timers care to clue me in. BTW it's a heavy cast piece and had a large "F" on the opposite side.

Not much of a wall compared to some of you others. Typical wall in the garage. Can't tell but thats a stack of Moon discs I got from Dean Moon back around 1980. He told me they were off the "Moonbeam"
They still have salt caked to the inside and came wrapped in newspaper from the early 60's. I have stuff all over the garage.
