My dads Morgan just has a 3 position toggle switch from the factory, minimalist, but it seems a bit agricultural.

True, SoCalConcepts here on the HAMB posted how to wire a 12 pin 4T/DT toggle switch. The thread is still up, but the photo link's are not view able anymore. Maybe drop him a line and he may post it again. It even works to cancel the given rear brake lamp when signaling that lamp. Heres that old thread reply http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4723122&postcount=45

Nice. As clamp-ons go, thats about the only one I have seen that I think would look ok in my car. Most of the others I have seen are too bulky looking, maybe ok in a closed Model A or something, but too clunky looking for a t roadster. Do you know who the manufacturer was?

If you can find a 48-54 Hudson steering column they have a neat little turn signal. Not a great pic for seeing it but the chrome half circle on the underside of the column is the turn signal. The lever is only about 3" long.

Here's mine on my 36.It has 7 wires which made it easy to hook up.Red light stay's on when ign is on and blinks when in use(turning).Has rubber wheel that rubs against steering wheel so it self cancels. The red at the end of arm does not light up.

Paul i like that vintage one, pretty cool and a clean clamp around the column. I like the speedway behind the dash idea. Is there any wY to take it apart and shorten that arm ?

Any old turn signal that is aluminum or old pot metal can look great by stripping the paint and polishing it. I've done this with several switches just for fun and the results are pretty damn nice. Doesn't take long either and the best part is it doesn't have to cost alot of money. You can pick up any old switch at a swap meet or whatever for $10 or $20. Take it home polish it up and it looks like you spent $200!

Here's one my buddy found in a old cab over truck. He wanted the truck and I wanted the turn signal switch! I cleaned it up and polished it to look like it does now.

Paul has the right idea. Painted or plain switches don't usually bring alot of money and polishing them is cheap and easy. Once polished they can bring good money. So you can sell it make some cash and do another one for free for yourself.

Thanks! I buy all my polish stuff from the truck stop. Buffer wheels and
jewelers rouge seems to be cheaper there and there's one close by. A one pound bar of jewelers rouge is like 5 bucks and the buffer wheels are like 11 or 12. I just mount them on a cheapo bench grinder and away you go!
The bench grinder I use I got at a auction for 5 bucks. It's a 3/4 hp motor and that's all I know about it. It's painted yellow and it works pretty good unless you really lean into it. Then it will quit on you. So not alot of power but for aluminum or pot metal it works well.:D

You can put a factory turn signal in your pickup, since you have a '58 Apache it will be fairly easy. Cheaper if you have used parts available. It will all be hidden in the steering column. If you can find a used cup, that goes under the steering wheel it will have the turn signal switch in it. In fact if you find the right truck you can get the complete unit of wires and lights. Ecklers cl***ic chevy, the truck dept. has everything you need new but it will be pricey but it will look factory and is all plug and play.

Thanks Paul, I'll have to see if I round one of those up, I like the way the indicator light is in the center of the lever as well. Its very clean looking. I am making my own column jacket and plan to chrome it, if I am going to attach a switch to it, it has to have a clean, light, minimalist look.

This is the one that was on my moms 51 Chevy that I learned to drive on. One of the very few self canceling after market switches. The rubber wheel rides on the steering wheel hub when the switch is engaged and kicks the swittch to the neutral position as soon as the wheel goes in the other direction. The wheel retracts in the neutral position. I thought all these years that it was a dealer installed Chevrolet accessory. I guess it was an add on unit.

QUOTE=GreenGrenade;8620448]HRP, i could dig a vintage style clip on like that. Some of those are just cool as hell, you dont see a whole lot of em. At the same time im kinda leaning towards a clean switch on the dash possibly and leave the column bare. I just built my column and kinda wanna leave it pla

And I saw this yesterday, mabye not exactly what you want but both cool ideas! This one just hides it pretty well, but in your truck you might hit your knees on it getting in and out?

This one was on my 40 when I bought it 34 years ago and I don't know how long it was there before that. I've never seen another one like it.

Not as traditional as an old steering column clamp on switch but it you want something like a dual throw toggle but with a built in cancel/timer try a switch from an English Car.

The photo in the link doesn't show the switch handle but they are available in several sizes depending on the application. Moss Motors isn't the only source but the link was the first one I came upon with a half way decent photo.

That's a Guide 6002 - a heavy diecast made piece and beautifully made. I have a couple that I am going to be using. There were a couple of different but similar styles under that model number....
