Wow, Fritz! Was that original spiderwebbing on the Princess difficult to duplicate? Watson really had the control perfect on the original. I have watched that process being done, but never had the nerve to try it myself. Did you build the orange bubbletop?

The Orange Bubble top was mine The "Roswell Rod" I sold it to a museum. The same museum asked me to restore the "Druid Princess"
And yes the veiling is a tuff nut to do, have to have a special gun and material to spray it. The Ed Roth "Outlaw" clone Is mine, its apart right now for chrome & paint. Should be done very soon. I have everything to do a clone of the "Beatnik Bandit" also! so stay tuned ;)

  3. I´m sure I´ve seen the trike you mean - I think it may have been a later incarnation of this Jim Lytle, Allison powered beast. The picture I remember had a purple deep button velour seat and four slicks.

    (Allison trike - mentalist!)

  4. What a great story - I, for one, would love to have seen that thing make a run.

I was looking at these pictures and kind of wondering who ever had the nerve to make use of the full potential performance of a dual blown Hemi powered bathroom suite, while sitting on a green velour toilet, directly over the front axle! Talk about being "first on the scene of the crash"! :D:eek:

I grew up at the Milwaukee car show and was the director at age 21. I have some press kits and Annuals which I will scan pictures when I can. Here are two to start. Carl Casper's Phone Booth and George Barris's Bathtub Buggy

I am pretty sure the running boot Hill Express went to the same museum that Fritz's car went to.

As for a bunch of Dan Wood's cars in one place, right now Davey Shuten has The Ice Truck, The Milk Truck, and the Butcher Truck all sitting in his garage right now.

I wish those tires were repoped! i love those freaking things. I noticed tons of showcars had the same low profile ..super wide tires.. badass..

this thread has me wondering.. Years ago I bought a 27 t from a guy north of brighton michigan.. It was an old show car it had the turtle deck glass body with a coil over front (real coils with shocks inside) and ford powered with 4 pipes per side running along the bottom of the car.. Knowing now what I know id have saved the damn thing.. I was told it had been in the detroit autorama and i wonder if anyone might have a pic of it . It also had motor wheel wheels on it too .. It had a wooden dash and a black interior.. It was pretty rough when i got it and i eventually used most of it as a pattern and built a new car using only the body and windshield stuff..

They were actually racecar tires made for the Indy car circuit in about '68-69.

Ramblur, initially the first cars with the wide tires were using actual Indy 500 tires, which were worthless on the street, but looked cool. Then, Goodyear came out with the Blue Streaks which looked similar, but were designed for the street.

Smokey, the photo was one that the previous owner had sent to Farhner before Ray had travelled to see it before the purchase. We had a mutual car-freak friend who had been "detained" in another city for a couple of years, and you are right there was a sketch on the back showing the plans, which I sent to the friend. Forunately, I did get the photo back.

7" Chop, that's a freaky bunch. Wasn't the three wheeler a Tom Mc Mullen project?

  20. G'day 59 Eldo, about 5 years ago I found a French website dedicated to Barris, that had photos of these cars plus the Nikon Camera car,all gathering dust in a warehouse in Paris. The site has come and gone a couple of times, but it looks like it has dissappeared for good this time.
Did you purchase the cars from the French dudes? Any idea how they all ended up over there? There were pics of the Pool Hustler (the pool table car) being pulled apart and resto starting, was it still apart when you found it?
I've got copies of most of the pics from the site if you want to see them.

    Cheers,PJ
