Not the fanciest, but it is original 60's panel paint with lace work, drizzle or string paint on the frontend and fogging on the edges.

I really like "panel" paint jobs. Hopefully we don't limit this thread to Gassers only, although for some reason it seems, Drag cars seemed to be very popular with this style custom paint. I really don't understand why people and painters got away from it. It should've been a timelss look.

I should have remembered that, minor case of brain fade. Happens pretty regularly now days. If I ever get the car back together, I hope I can find someone that can still paint it again.

i own the Guggy's coffee shops Willys and yes it was from Arizona and was painted by legandary painter George Cerny Jr. from Compton,California if you know George's work the Guggys was very mild compared to his other paint jobs on funny cars and dragsters.

28 X 11 slicks on Toronado wheels. I din't really like the black tires on the black wheels, but I couldn't afford to have them chromed and never got around to painting them some other color. It was a race car, looking good wasn't the primary goal.

Amen to that brother. Bucky's car must be seen in person to be appreciated, it's beautifully done. It also has a flake steering wheel and he has his helmet painted like the old metal flake Grant rebel.

I totally agree! I loved the wild paint jobs you would see around the late 60's-70's. Let's keep this thread going. Maybe I can get some ideas for 70's style paint jobs for my Acadian....metalflake, lace, cobwebbing, panel painting, etc...

    Did that come from Washington?

  18. I got the car from a guy in south Surrey, just south of Vancouver, BC. He bought it back in the early 80s down in Lancaster Ca where it had been raced in the 60s and early 70s. It was parked and a new frame and cage was installed, then the project was abandoned. I plan to put a tunnel rammed 440 in it and go nostalgia racing.

Nice! Post some pics of it when you are done, or as progress is made. You gotta keep as much of the paint job as you can
It would be a big hit seeing it racing here at the local 1/8 mile drags at Western Speedway.
