[IMG] I have posted this picture in another thread, but I think it deserves repeating. This car looks vicious standing still.

We ran our BackMotor funny car as a fuel altered for a couple years, got a lot of crap over our "engine setback" but I couldn't get it any closer to the rear wheels :D

[IMG]I can't recall who owned this car at this time, but he was from Brighton, MA and would later move on to funny cars. The car was originally built by Joe Bannon and Ray Marcotte from Malden, MA., my old home town. Just a fun inexpensive car to build and race.

What rock have I been under? I missed this thread too? Here's ours. Its also on the first page of this thread. There's more than a couple posts with this car in it.....maybe we just ought to finish it. Ran NHRA C/A or D/A (depending on displacement and weight) in the Western and Central New York area from late 60's through mid 1970's. The all black paint with 3-S sponsor was late sixties to 71ish. Castle Products sponsored the car in '72 (thus the Dragon Fire down the sides) and from '73 and up Rochester Lead sponsored the car and helped pay for the green/silver flake job. It was retired sometime in the 1970's, left for junk, rescued a day before it was to be cut up and now its almost fully restored and ready for track duty. We've got it about 80 percent done. Its set up to be Ford powered at this time around.....Lots of stories and lots of history behind this car. If any of the Buffalo/Rochester/Syracuse/Ontario Canada folks have more pics or more infomation on the car (and/or its colorful original owner/builder) we're alway happy to see/hear what you've got.

    Enjoy!

[IMG] Rick Picard driving the Rick's Speed Shop B/A from Woonsocket, RI. This was a home made fiberglass Model A body on a Pete Tropeano chassis. Rick would later move up to AA/FA after purchasing the old Mondello Matsubara AA/FA from CA.

does any body know what the wheel base on the matsubura mondelo fiat is

  24. That was Jim Carter from Melbourne Australia running against Kevin Christersen. It was probably Heathcote raceway or the shortlived Riverbend raceway in South Australia. Which was operated by Terry O'toole and the recently deceased Roly Leahy who campaigned a fed right up till his death. He ran 2 meets at Bakersfield last year.
    RIP Roly.
