I did some searching, but did not find any posted old car show rule sheets,I remeber using some, think they were Hotrod mag or NHRA
They gave extra points for oil, water and gas cans and tools. Some awarded points for each mod, resulting in a lot of unnecessary scoops and doodads added to some cars. Interesting question, I wonder if there was any standard rule book published, like for racing?
What I'm asking is about a old copy that maybe posted some place? one or more of them? Yes ,Rusty O'Toole, your right about that! It is what happen around 1961 or so,spotlights and radio airels, scoops, each extra added all were worth points. But before then there was also a rule sheet, that didn't give any extra points for more then one of each. I did a lot of shows with my cars back in 59 to 1965,at some of the shows there were rule/judging sheets they were being used, printed up by ether one of the Car magazines or NHRA that some of the promotor were using.
The ISCA (International Show Car Association) was the main governing body (and still is at many shows) and they had a rule book that laid out modification types, how many points each was worth, which mods put you into what class, etc, etc...
I'd like to again look at a copy of one or more of these old show rule sheets,if anyone can post one or more. I keep come up with nothing in my hunts
At local shows now the way they make up the class is very werid, becuz the guys doing it have little understanding of anything other then Mustangs,Vetts n Camaros, for now I like to help them out with there class set up,but best way, would be if I could make a copy of one of the old sheets and mod it some for todays cars. Thanks
The ISCA current rules are available here: http://www.theisca.com/?page_id=19 Click on the '2015 rulebook' icon to download. Maybe you could 'reverse-engineer' it somewhat to get something that would give better guidelines....
Thanks Steve I have been interested in this also I always try to talk to judges to get their opinion on where I am losing points so I can determine weather or not I am going to make the changes. I appreciate the constructive criticism. Jim
Thanks very much for the help, its good, but really looking for the sheets from around 1960,was a lot less complacated then this new one I just looked over.
