Have you ever owned a race car.Not only are you charged to race. you get the pleasure of replacing broken part's worn tires and crash damage on a weekly basis. Spend 1000.00$ on tires to win 500.00$. What the hell is going on that profit has become a dirty word. i am amazed at the B.S. that happens every time this topic come's up. Enjoy CAPITALISM you might like it. Car shows are like anything else if you dont like the price stay home

Maybe I'm just younger but I work for a dragstrip that had $10 Hot Rod shows till about 6 months ago and no one was showing up so now its $20 just to make the money off the 30 cars that do show up. The reason the prices probably went up is because people stopped going to the shows and now they need to make as much money as they can to pay expenses.

I don't go to many shows anymore, frankly because I'm sick of most of them. I restored my '51 Ford 25 years ago, and it's getting a little long in the tooth, because I drive it most of the time in the summer. It doesn't impress most of the folks at the shows. I know I should re-do it, but it's still a good 30 footer and it runs and drives excellently. Today, I had to go to town to get some stuff at the hardware store and the auto parts store. I'll bet at least 10 people stopped to ask about the car and offered positive comments. I couple of older guys showed some real interest and wanted to know some random things about the car. ("What does it weigh? "was the strangest one to me). These are people that probably don't go to car shows and it seemed to be a real treat for them to see it parked in front of the Pequot Lakes post office and ask a few questions. It's a better experience than most car shows for me. The only down side is that some old white-haired guy with a cane will come up and say "My dad had a car like that in high school"! WTF? I had a car like that in high school.

all of this will change what? support shows or don't. pay, don't pay. the world will go on no matter what you do, unless you actively change it.
