Man, I have tried and tried to avoid writing this as it must really show my ignorance or maybe it's just the ac***ulation of many, many years. In my defense, "I ain't never been old before". So I bought the Signal Stat switch and read the directions but I can't get it to work, I'm kinda like Johnny Cash when he turns on the wipers the horn honks and the lights come on. That's me. I currently have parking lights that work. The Signal Stat unit provides 4 wires including a red one that goes to to the right front parking light turning it into a turn signal. Fine. It's just a process of of following the color codes fro here on. But what do I do with the existing parking light wiring ? Do I keep it ? Do I toss it and work off the Signal Stat unit. Do I splice them together............. or what ? I know that to some of you this is really a simple question, easy to resolve. Heck, it's easy when you know. Just wait until Mother Nature kicks you in the **** till your nose starts to bleed, THEN things are no longer so easy. Take my word for it.
Not sure what you are working on; but you need dual element sockets along with1157 bulbs in your parking lights if you want them to be both signals and park lights. If you don't care about the parking lights, disconnect those wires and connect the signal light wires along with installing brighter bulbs. If you want dash indicators, tie them into the front signals. Run the wire from the output of your brake light switch into the signal switch and hook the rear signal wires to the rear lights, if you don't have separate left and right wires to the rear, add one to the right rear and remove the old brake light crossover. The flasher wiring should be pretty self explanatory.
You cannot turn a parking light into a turn signal you have to change the socket and bulb if you want to put it in the park light housing These units are designed for trucks that people put the turn signal light on the front fender or convert the sockets and bulbs in the park light. On the rear the simple solution is to connect the gray wire to the existing brake light wire after you run the wire from the brake light switch to the Black/gray wire. That will be your left brake/turn wire. Then run a second wire from the black lead down to where you are going to split the right stop light wire from the other stop light wire near the left tail light. that becomes your right stop/turn light.
