I stole mine from Tom Waits, he said it to Martin Mull on Fernwood 2 Nite and that must have been around 1976 or so. It's a neat word play & I pretty much have stolen my one liners unashamedly for years.
Somebody on here used to sign with something to the effect of; "Life isn't meant for you to arrive at the gates with a well-preserved, pristine body. You should arrive sliding sideways, spraying gravel and screaming YEEHAA, WHAT A RIDE!" I always thought there was a certain amount of truth to that........ Roger
I have had a similar one. Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid-in-sideways, totally worn out, shouting.."holy shit.... what a ride!" and Nitrous is like wanting to sleep with a hot girl that you know she has a STD..... You know you want to hit it but you are scared of the out come.
The "WHO CARES" is my general thought's toward all the nonsense we meet daily, like what someone wants to call your car etc...does it really matter? umm, NO! i think i've had it there for 8 years or so. The one from Chili Phil just made me laugh my ass off. He responded to a guys post with that remark and i had to write it down. Too damn funny. Tony
Mine came from my road racing days at Brainerd International Raceway. turn 10 to turn 1 was 1 mile long, turn 1 is a high banked corner, then a 3/8 mile run to turn 2, Turn two is the same as one with out banking and turn 3 is a 30-40mph right hander. With my ITB Mustang I would have the engine maxed out about 2/3 the way down the mile straight and hold that to turn 3. Hence stand on it until you see GOD and then shift.
I heard this in Daytona last week while setting around a camp fire...drinking beer. It made me laugh. Your village called....they're looking for their idot
Some of 'em make me chuckle too. And some of 'em I have no clue where they come from. Mine is a phrase my dad always use to say.
I was responding to yet another neophyte who had 2 completely different things sitting in the yard that would have not been right if he had taken the time to marry them. Another member said it should be my signature, so it is. I understand that hot rodding started with " I got this and I got that", but the intent was to make it better, not just clean up the yard.
I just made it up right now, but I wanted "The preceding statement is true, only the facts and figures have been changed to protect the uninteresting" but that was 8 characters too long, so now it's this.↓
I use a few depending on the board. Engines are like cheese, big blocks are better value! "And in knowing, that you know nothing, makes you the smartest of all" ~ Socrates
Toner283 covered them all...threads over EDWEIRD you must be pretty popular with the ladies...lol Mines not funny and I didn't make it up, don't remember where I heard it but it's from my racin days. But I agree some of these are hilarious!
Mine too is an uncredited line from a song. It is by Bruce Springsteen before he let politics cloud his creativity. I am from New Jersey after all !!!
