How about a sign with NO history. Actually, it does have a back story... Wanted one of these signs ever since I saw the album cover for Built for Speed, by the Stray Cats. This sign is hanging on the building behind them. Been looking for years, all I could find was really beat up examples that people wanted stupid money for. Recently just went and found the website where real New York garages buy their signs, and bought a brand new one...for WAY less than an old one. Actually had the guy call me after I placed the order to ask why I needed a New York sign in Wisconsin!
Back in the mid 60's I purchased karting supplies from Dawson & Son's karting supply in Winston Salem, N.C. Today it's called Competition Karting and I think the last time I was there in the mid 90's it was located in Welcome, N.C. When I there back in the 90's with Wayne Dokken a friend of mine who raced in NASCAR I mentioned to him that it used to be Dawson and Son's and my friend said I think you are wrong about the name and the guy on the other side of the counter was Bob Klutz who purchased Dawson & Son's back in the 70's and he told Wayne listen to your buddy because he is correct. He then asked us to hang around and have lunch with him and we talked about kart racing in the 60's and 70's for the next two hours. On Mondays in the Charlotte area they always had auctions for different Nascar teams that were selling their old parts and stuff like that so we made the 71/2 hour drive from the west coast of Florida to N.C. Jimbo
That's awesome! I hope they stick around. That's a beautiful marquee. Sent from my Pixel 3a XL using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

Here's one I picked up. It's a Winston cigarette sign. It looked like an old trash can. But it has a steel mounting bracket on it's right side. Sent from my SM-G920P using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Here's my buddy's shop in rural Ireland. This shop and signs were sadly destroyed. Sent from my Pixel 3a XL using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
This sign was found in an abandoned house near Springfield Missouri. This was obviously for sale before antibiotics. Pretty crazy. Sent from my Pixel 3a XL using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
