SILENT AUCTION - stepping back and taking a break

Discussion in 'H.A.M.B. Drag Nationals' started by blacktopbuddha, Jul 13, 2012.

  1. It wasn't easy coming to this decision. I've spent a bunch of brain power and talked with some good friends getting here.

Anyway, this year the auction will either be scaled back in a major way or put on the shelf until next year. I need to kick back and experience the Drags in another light.

Ryno, one of the HAMB's best, said that he'd be willing to help out with a smaller auction.

The kicker here is that he won't do it by himself. I'll certainly be there to help if it does get rolling. BUT

if you would like to see the auction up and running this year and can lend a couple hours of your time - SEND ryno or myself a PM.

otherwise I'll be back at it and the auction will be better than ever NEXT YEAR.

  2. Well, lemme be the first in this thread to thank you for years past Bill. You've always done a helluva job

Well done for all the years past Bill, Kerry has just sent a few things in the post to you. Hope the stuff is ok. Nigel.

  4. Thanks guys. I appreciate your thoughts and good words.

If anyone wants to send anything, go ahead. It'll either get bid on this year or I'll hold on to it for next time around.

i am willing to assist in anyway i can.
as blacktopbudda mentioned, if you have any questions or am willing to help, pm me or him.

i completely support bills request for the year off too, the man pours his heart and soul into this every year, and never gets to really enjoy the event for what it is.

if it does not happen this year, next year we will have a better program.

Can you do a 3 hour auction at the hotel after the drags? Just a thought for guys that still have some coin in their pockets and you don't have to chase anyone down that left early.

Thanks in advance to BTB for you donor time in the past........I have seen your hard work and you even had to chase me down one year.

    Thanks again,
    Chris

  7. I've given the Friday or Saturday night thing some thought, but I feel the best thing to do is keep it at the track during the Drags. Tons more people looking and bidding that way. More $ raised too.
Heck, I've hardly gotten the parking lot experience in anyway. My butts been parked behind the table Fri. night and Sat. night I'm chasing down winners. Just no time for frivolous things. It's time.
