Hot Rods Sill Plates to fit a Model "A" Coupe ????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 61cad, Sep 11, 2008.

  1. The stock Model "A" Coupe sill plates are small in comparison to the width of the door (26 7/8"). Does anyone make a 26" Sill Plate that is not Billet?

I made a set out of polished stainless sheet-there's a guy who sells these-outtakes of prison mirrors-for about $12 each at Carlisle and hershey. Then I used a Ford logo made for Mustang and other late models-got from a 'stang supplier. I'll try to find a photo.

Does the sill plate *HAVE* to go A-post to B-post exactly?? So I have a little carpet at the front and back of it......doesn't look bad and I can live with it....

Here are a couple of photos of my sill plates. The polished stainless is maybe 18 gauge? I am not sure-As I mentioned, these are mirror seconds from Carlisle or Herhsey. I am going to need to trim the inner door panels a bit since the metal plus the underlying carpet don't quite allow for easy door closing.

If you or a friend has a bead roller, you could make something trick that would fit.
