simple question

When did Dodge pickups go to 12 volt? thanks

 

I cannot remember which year for sure somewhere from 55-59 I seem to recall having 12v in an old 56 dodge truck i had that wasn't a conversion but I could be mistaken. I know in 55 others like chevy and pontiac were using 12v.

 

Dodge changed from a 6-volt positive ground electrical system to a 12-volt negative ground electrical system sometime during 1955-1956.

Thanks big bad john. I have a 55 5 window to go after in the spring and just got to wondering.

My motors manual says they went to 12V in 1956, the same year as Ford.

 

Ford and Chrysler switched to 12v in '56, GM in '55.
