I have ghost lines on all the text blocks etc. I have booted the cpu, played with all the settings ....used the degause(sp) feature....nothing. Still bad..... It was ok when I went to bed. I don't use a screen saver...bbut I turn off the monitor when I am not around...any ideas?
Well! With out knowing or ascertaining the relevant data you have so wittingly placed befor us for our collective purpose of diagnosing a concern you have with your videwo display unit It is highly unlikely we can discern or ascertain the systematic problems with your cathode ray tube. In other words, It is my belief you may have a malfunctioning apparatus which is soley for your viewing pleasure. am I right?
Jeez Jim, Keep stringin all them big words together and the hill folk are gonna string you up!!! Have you moved anything around? What you are describing CAN be caused by magnetic interference.
Mine went wacky.. ghost lines, odd color traces following the mouse arrow, etc. It was the video card in the computer. 80 bucks later I was back in the game. You can do these yourself. Also Take the side panel off the tower and blow air in there to get the dust out. The computer stores sell it in an aerosol can too. Sometimes the monitor wont come on after it goes off. About a couple dozen whacks with my fist to the top and side get it cooking again. Thats the extent of my PC knowledge...
Nope. As a matter of fact Brewsir and I were checking out the Hamb last night and it was fine. I take him back to his hotel and when I get back it's jacked. It was off the whole time I was gone.
right now I am dealing with the incredible shrinking screen. It's full size, no it's half size, no it's gone black, it's back. It's gonna go any minute now and it aint gonna come back.
When the video card first started going out, it was very intermittent. Then it became more and more pronounced. It presented itself especially if the monitor was turned off. I always left it on, but if the power went out, or it got accidentally shut off, it would be hell to get it to come back on and look right. I bought a new monitor and it didnt fix it. I think theres a little fan that starts seizing up. If you blow all the dust out, it may be OK. But I'm no expert, I'll leave it at that. Good Luck.
I told you last night I jinx computers...they hate me just because I fix things with big hammers! No laptop here...the school has a couple of computers in the lobby...when I can get on one for a little while!
Get a different monitor and hook it to the system. Ghost stuff still there, it's the video card. I've had 3 brought into my computer store in the last 2 months, all same issues as yours, all video. Go buy a cheap card and swap it in.
