How does single stage paint or basecoat with satin clear hold up against oil, gas, grease, and usual road grime?
Hey, Alot of variables there! Some colours (darker) hide stains better Finishes with a hardener tend to hold off chemical attack and last longer. Gasoline in some parts of the country (Kalifornia) tend to have alot of alcohol in them and are harder on paint. A satin clear job, unless it's a quality brand will start in peel in 3-4 years or less, and will probably start to show stains/ware before then. Swankey Devils C.C. i prefer siingle with catilyst for semi gloss as well.........gloss paint holds up better ,as im sure you know skull
I have Hot Rod Black single-stage acrylic urethane on my car, grease and grime are no problem, but the gas that comes gushing out the filler when the pump handle doesn't shut off has stained my quarter fender. I consider it "patina".
