What a great show this weekend! This show never disappoints, but 2015 was extra special for us old school hot rodders!!! After the Detroit Autorama last winter, the Mgmt for the Concours d'Elegance @ St John's asked us if we would bring our club display to their event in the summer. They planned to add a new class for 2015 called Streamliners, but it would have a grouping of significant dry lakes & Bonneville cars. We didn't know what to expect, but we spent 4 weekends redoing the display, so it could sit outdoors for the event. (thx Dustyoldbodyman) We heard that Bruce Meyer & Ken Gross were slated to get an achievement award of some kind, but nobody knew what was coming from Cali until the last minute. Meyers went overboard & brought an entire truckload out from Cali. Holy shit! We couldn't believe what was in that carrier when we showed up on Sunday!!!! Thanks to the owners & builders, we were lucky enough to get to scour over every detail on the 2D Lakester (Meyers), the Williams Roadster (Tom McIntyre), the Pierson's 36 cpe (resto'd by Bill Gahnal). It was freakin' like Christmas. We hope we didn't tick them off too badly & maybe they might invite us back again...
Here's a couple links with better coverage of the event than I did: The Detroit News: 37th annual Concours d’Elegance dazzles http://detne.ws/1S5E4ku This is a great interview with Gahnal about the Pierson Bro's 36: http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/concours-delegance-of-america/34366030
