Getting ready to start putting the 4 link rear suspension in the 47. I was thinking set the rod ends to about the middle of the threads(the bars are only threaded on one end), set the rear up on jack stands at about the ride height, set the rearend location and pinion angle, weld the brackets. So does that sound ok or way off? Anybody have any tips or suggestions? Thanks
Sounds good so far. I'd be inclined to have the rod ends screwed in a little further than half way. You should be able to get darned near right on the money without making an adjustment at the threaded end. Reason I like doing it this way is; if you have to push one end back it's not long until you run out of threads. The link ends aren't very long - unless you make em yourself. Even then, you don't want a long threaded piece hanging out. Along with that, I'd tack the brackets in with strong tacks and then get the car off the stands and onto the floor where you can tell for sure where the ride height is. Doing the finish welding is one of the last things you want to do. Along with the tack welding bit, don't be crawling under the car or engine if things are tack welded. Not without jackstands etc. so you'll be safe. Tack welds make life a lot easier if you have to backtrack. Instructions are important, but I wouldn't follow them blindly. Some are well written and some aren't. Much better to read and understand the instructions and then make absolutely sure the item going onto the car is where it needs to be and where you want it to be.
