Nope, mine is near Telfordville Alberta, cool little town that has an overland dealer still sitting in it and a population of something like 15 people!

I live a few hours north of you by Leduc just west of the QEII in a ghost town!

ya thats vava voom. That car is a 30 something chevy flower car. He has probaby 500 cars and 5000 parts. He is nice but I find his prices are kinda steep. The other thing is with his yard you need to walk from the top down as in some areas there is a pretty steep hill.

Here are 2 46-48 Mercury coupes with a 1949 Mercury 4dr in the background and a 1940 something Ford rack truck with a bunch of old Ford flathead engines sitting in the back. These cars have been sitting unmoved since the early 70s. I took these pics 2-20-12. These were just a small part of a collection of cars my dad had for parts. Dad is gone, but the cars are left behind. My brother and I are now in charge. And the last pic is a recent crash that happened a few towns over from me. Opps.

For 15 years I drove by a 64 T-Bird. It was right in the center of town, sitting in a driveway, next to a falling down single car garage. Bicycles, lawnmowers and snowblowers piled up all around it. I always wanted to stop and take a picture of it and then one day last year it was gone. So, yesterday, I stopped and shot these other two. They're right across the street from each other. Must be something in the water. Wonder what's so special in that garage that the Bird has to sit outside. This car has been there since at least 1977.

Let's set the records straight. The asshole is the owner who lets a beautiful car rust away. And when I said lay down the sob story, I wasn't saying lie I was saying your sob story about your life (if your grandfather owned it) I'm a honest guy but I think saving a car is worth a little white lie here and there, because when he dies his kids are gonna scrap them! And lastly the 36 I bought, I am building it. But if someone has an attachment to her then I'll seel her, because it's not my dream car. Car hoarders make me sick, unless they are car builders and not yard artists. if this wasn't a sitting and rotting page I would have said nothing.

^ Pretty rude and vindictive to call the owner an "asshole" for letting it sit there. Not everybody has the ability nor ambition to hot rod/restore an old vehicle. If someone owns it for whatever reason, they have nothing to be ashamed about to not build it if they have better things to do with their money or time. Thats a completely foreign concept to almost all of us since its in our blood, but were not exactly the same as everybody else quite obviously.

For any old car I've seen that I've talked to the owner about; I've been completely honest and straight forward. No reason to lie and be a bullshitter, whats worse is when they can sense it.
I've always told people Im interested in this (car/truck) to restore or possibly make a mild hot rod out of; and most are very happy to oblige. I've never had anybody slam the door on my face. The worst I've heard is "Im not interested in selling it because of XXXXXXX"

I agree 100%, honesty all the way, I've said it many times, be polite, be clear on your intentions and be honest because it all goes a long way.

People come to me every now and then and lay it on thick, and I can always tell and it really bugs me... but the ones that come over and are sincere with me, even if I dissagree with what they want to do, I am going to deal with them over the liar any day of the week.

I'm not talking about the one or two car hoarder. And again if this was a sitting and I bought it forum I would have said nothing but the fact of the matter is that it is a rotting forum. I'm not even going to argue anymore because it is obvious that we don't see eye to eye and I'm not going to keep trying. Best of luck with your Rust rescues.

I have just shy of 100 cars, does that make me a hoarder? Does that mean I should be lied to and tricked out of them? Does it matter that they were all saved from the crusher and I sell/trade/give them away constantly? Not to a lot of people, they just assume that I have too many and and a bad person because of it. LOL

This can happen in a day or two given the right tides. Near Tofino (west coast of Canada) Many cars were lost overninght back in the day by "hippies" camping on the beach. on occaision the reminants of an old Beetle or microbus turn up on the beach.

I spent 10+ years with the guy who had my 59 Skyliner. I would stop by from time to time and talk with him. About 40% of the time did I even mention the car. He knew why I was there but I NEVER lied to him. I was respectful, honest and fair. Finally he called me. All he wanted was $500 more than I had offered him. I was at his door in 15 mins with a rollback and cash. Len (owner) told me he thought that I was the one person that was honest with him so that alone is why he turned down larger offers in favor of mine.

When I showed up at his house driving the Skyliner, he cried. I had the top down and scooted over in the seat, tossing him the keys. He sat down in the drivers seat silent. He quietly touched all the now fresh knobs and felt the polished dash. He started the car, looked at me and said "this is exactly how I remember it!" We went for a drive and he was thrilled. I gave him the original key and told him he has visitation rights forever. Then when we returned, his neighbor ran over thrilled that the car was on the road again for the 1st time since 1990 when it was parked.

So complete honesty (no "white lies" no BS) is what got me the car over at least a dozen other people who made offers over the years. Len just wanted to be respected and treated with dignity. I still hear people telling me they know where a car "EXACTLY!" like mine is. I smile and tell them that car is gone. :)

To PAINFULBANTER: There are many people (assholes as u refer to them) that have bought and paid for a car or truck or more than 1 of each, and have let them sit for many reasons. NONE of which make them an "asshole". I can speak first hand for 1 very special person to me that was an avid car collector with dreams for all of them, some of which did come true. My dad had bought many cars over the years, some sat for years and some unfortunatly rotted into the ground. And trust me, it killed my dad, just like it does for many of these other collectors to see their dreams rust away. You must keep in mind, in this case, my dad had 4 kids to take care of 3 businesses thru the years, thinking there will always b tomorrow or next week, next month and so on. Well with major back issues slowing his dreams down, a massive heart attack at a young age and then to top it off early into his retirement (which was supposed to be his golden years and the years he was supposed to catch up on all his dreams) He was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. He survived longer than most with this diagnosis. But during those 20 months he spent most of his time going to Doctors appointments and Chemo treatments and dealing with Chemo hangover. I would certainly hope nobody was driving by his cars sitting there "rotting" away calling him an asshole.

It's just north of Leduc, I've been driving past it for eons and never even noticed it and the Dodge truck I posted till a couple weeks ago, so I'm going to check them out in warmer weather.

What's the story on that T coup and the Diamond T and the 58 Canadian Dodge? (love those fins) and it that a green Datsun 510 in the left side of the bottom photo?
