You are on the right track, Chris, certainly not french. Based on the pointy hood, the size of the car and shape of the park lights I would say it is 1950 Ford Taunus, made in Germany.

    Dave,
There are nice aluminium vent shades on the sedanette. I suppose those are kind of hard to find these days. Worth saving for... Go get 'em!

Are you guys sure this is not a 39 deluxe or 40 standard ford sedan with an oversized renault grill. Looks that way to me!

Makes on the pile, from left to right, top row:
SAAB 92, Opel Kapitän, Ford Prefect, Ford Anglia.
The question is, what is the one in middle, below Prefect, left of Anglia?

Looks a little bit like a 1954-5 Simca, Aronde, but not qiute.. Did Simca have any different models <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Sledgeraider, I guess you nailed it, I forgot Ford was building cars in Germany... I didn't even look for them, was that a German only body or did they share with Matford?
To me the grille looks like a dwarf version of a 49 Chevy. French cars never had a grille looking like this.

I think you are correct on it being a Taunus, there are a lot of 52-59 Taunus's in the same spot so a pre 52 seems to make sense.

  11. it is a german Ford Taunus, this is the postwar-model:

, it was called the hunchbacks Taunus for it's rear shape. the were developed by Ford Germany in late 30's and were built 'til fifty-two. see this, it is a '38 or '39:

just a different grille and some details, powered by a little flathead fourbanger.

nice cars, pretty rare, parts are not to get. not a bit! very hard to restore.

    Cheers, Carsten

"Parts are not to get" not hard? I can agree with that as I have 2 59 Taunus 12M Supers and the only parts I can ever find are for the earlier ones like what you pictured. It took me 14 years just to find a windshield for mine.

I was actually going to buy that car 5 or so years back, but it had been in a garage fire (less than 10 years ago) and most of the metal is warped. He wouldnt' sell any single part off it, but he'd sell the whole car. Prior to the fire, the car was supposedly in great original shape.

My uncle had one exactly like the bottom one last time I was at his place (about 17 years ago). If these pics. were taken in MS, it would have to be the same car.

Imperial Crown was purchased in FL driven to NC and parked "about 22 years ago". 24,257 original miles showing. Owner is finally coming to terms with selling and allowing for a better home.
