Hahha, that's cool. Looks like you found a '55 Ford out there also.

 

This ones now safely tucked away in a friends shed waiting for me to finish my fleetline before i start on the truck.




Robbed of been allowed to rust in piece

 

Behind my Dad's shop today - a 58 Skyliner Retractable Parts Car.

The frame, roof, doors and rear panel are solid. Rear quarters are rusty down low.

 

Oh how I would love to have that retract!!!!! I have restored a few of them, still have tons of NOS parts for them in my shed just waiting for the day I find one and can make it mine!! Jim

 

He had a few more cars back there but called in a scrapper last year. He scrapped out a very clean 59 Wagon that I tried to sell for 500.00 - but not a single offer or call came in. All that is left of that wagon now is the 9" rear and the tailgate.

That skyliner may still head to the scrapper if it does not sell soon. He said that he was going to pull the doors and top and then scrap the remains soon.

 

What is he asking, and what else is there?

Always wanted to see someone do a Edsel with a retractable top....

I've seen a few online, it seems a common way to do it is to weld the Edsel rear fender coves onto the Ford...





This one uses proper looking Edsel rear fenders.



But this one they went for Edsel wagon tail lights and trim, and I find it a bit more appealing, and it looks more like something Ford could have built.



But to not stray too far off topic, I found these photos while looking up the Edsel ones.

Apparently they were taken in 1971.

Sell it to cfnutcase. If he has retractable parts on hand for it, it'll be a match made in Heaven!
There's no way that car (or any Retractable) should be scrapped. It would be like scrapping a Nomad.

 

Those picture's are like soooo sad !!!!!!

 

So many cars in those big piles I can identify, and most of them appear to have little or no rust. Of course, in 1971, all of them were commonplace and nobody thought anything about scrapping them, since there were plenty more in the junkyards. Strange how one's opinion of the styling on various cars changes. I used to think '60 Fords were ugly, now I like them, and there are several in those piles with perfect grilles, bumpers, taillights, fenders, etc.

 

Neat, looking back through this thread, and the farm with the hudsons is not quite a mile from my farm!

Neat to see it in this thread! Ive went and looked around that yard quite a few times.

The guy is selling quite a bit of stuff from the yard though.

 

yep....sad pile....had to look....spotted a 62-63 Lark tailight in there....

 

Finally got around to snapping these pics. I've been driving by these two for twenty years. These guys are neighbors, the cars are three house apart. No idea what they are. Ran when parked!!

I think this Galaxie is a '66, so I hope it isn't too OT, but it's at the Pick-n-Pull in Kansas City, still in the holding lot, hasn't hit the yard yet. But thought I'd put it out there for anyone who might be interested. still has it's bucket seats and floor shift console.

 

1960 Mini Me
