Is there any backstory on that clot of metal?

 

Where is this Sierra Vista? I wanna go

 

Used to be a salvage yard up on the mesa back in the day....

The R.R tracks run next to the pit.
Southern Pacific R.R. acquired the property & they pushed all the cars & trucks from the salvage yard into the wash for erosion control.

Still shows up on Google Earth

If you are thinking of checkin' it out ....be forwarned that it is R.R. property & the R.R. cops will bounce ya off the property or.... have ya arrested if they catch you there.

 

Makes me wanna get a trailer and liberate some of these beauties

 

Found these in lower Washington on our way home from Reno. Seen the "High Top" out of the corner of my eye at 75 + mph.

 

Sounds easy but... you will need a 4X4 to get back in there & you will need bolt cutters to cut a gate lock....

Then if you havn't already been busted....& if you can get back in there with the trailer....you need a winch with 300 feet of cable to yank anything out.

We have been pickin' parts outta there for years now but, never able to actually pull out a whole body.

The cars are stacked 5-7 deep in some places & it is scary if you are down in there & they shift around.

We now only go there in January & Feb. as the last time we went in the summer.... we got chased out by rattlesnakes.

 

"Screwshiney" from Carteret posted this picture on page 18 of this thread. I PM'd him but have gotten no reply.

If anyone knows where this is located, & wants to make a little $$$, I'll pay $100 for the two rear bumper step posts/pads off this car.

Looks like the pair that used to sit outside of Madill Oklahoma.

 

Salvage yard in notheast Texas.

 

Heres a couple from out back of Bud's in Budville,NM.I took them last week on my trip back from LA on Route 66.55 chev hardtop and other hulks.I've got a few more i'll post later.

 

East of Grants,NM,Rt 66.No means no i guess.
