Those are, my guess, war surplus motorcycles. When hostilities ended these cycles were on the docks, ready to go overseas and when the ships sailing orders were cancelled the government picked locations stateside to send all the war surplus hardware, including motorcycles, cars, trucks, planes, etc.

If you look closely you can see dents in some of the tanks and others in need of repair. I guessing they were collected after the war in Europe when the troops were going home. I can remember in the late 60's when you could look in the back of magazines and there would be ads for surplus army vehicles and the price would be under $100 for cars and trucks. I never knew anyone who bought one.

Here's a '31 A fordor at my Dad's place. Briggs body (or what's left of it). Decent radiator and lights, cowl *might* be salvageable, etc. He has a title for it, and the engine was rebuilt not long before it was parked, so parts of this may live again someday...

    I had one of these!
One night we put a 270 Red Ram I was driving in it.
This is the one I've mentioned before with the vanity plate that read, "SEMI ATO".

You cant overload those. I had 2 caddie 500's in the back of mine so it would ride fairly decent.

Sitting since the late '70's...saved now. '56 9 Passenger. Only had 90k+ Miles when he drove it into the back yard, never intending for it to be there so long, he said.

Solid car - I'm removing surface rust now, and there is a decent car underneath.

oddball Pontiac feature...The 1956 and 1957 Pontiac 9-passenger wagons had them. Chevy versions do not. Great if you are stuck in the 3rd seat, I bet!

    This one's pretty rare...

^^^^^^^^^SADLY, very true. I spent enough on a fence and registration to get everything running.
    County gave me 90 days.
I live on an acre where there is no association
Actually the county guy was pretty cool.
The Silver Lining is now everything is registered. All I have to do is get it running and insured.
Running is easy because I've been working on them for years and they're almost there..
They don't tell you which neighbor needs his teeth kicked in either.
Oddly, his house sold while I had everything in the front yard while I was building the fence.
I hope he chokes on a big turde..
