  1. Trailer looks like a typical Aussie 1970s homemade job . 13 inch wheels with 1966/67 Holden hubcaps. Customised license plate recess on the bootlid as well.

This forgotten auto wreckers had closed in the 70's, and had tons of good old iron in it. Once it closed, the family closed off any traffic or anyone looking to buy anything for almost 35 years. Once the parents had passed, the son took over selling some iron. Between myself and a couple of friends, we were able to buy 8 vehicles out of here back in 2002. We wanted to buy more, but the owner turned cold and refused to sell anymore to anyone else, because someone told him he could get "thousands more" for what he had. Well, he recently passed, and his widow wasted no time, hiring a crusher to clean the property up. A very small few actually bought a couple of cars as they were lined up to be crushed. Some of the witnesses confirmed to me there was 59 Chevy wagons, 57 Fords, 50 Olds 2-door fastback, multiple late 50's Fords and Meteors, 49-51 Fords, and a 59 Pontiac 2-door hardtop that were crushed. Another sad reminder that the old car landscape is changing, at least up here in Canada.

A sad, and all too common story.

I'm gonna say '48 Pontiac woody wagon. Definitely a wood bodied wagon based on the roof cut line. Skinny stainless strip on top of the fender, short stainless arrowhead molding on the front fender, no portholes in the hood but you can almost see the outline of the hood emblem there, bent up molding clips that used to hold a wide stainless trim in the center of the hood. Remaining paint on the front fender seems to match the grille bars, too.

  16. Good job on the identification. I also had a feeling it was a '40s GM woody wagon. I'm sure it was a very rare car even back in the day. Sad end to a once very stylish longroof.

I can see the ad for the fenders now...... Rust free front clip for a 48 Pontiac, comes with a few bullet holes, easily fixed. $500. :p:D:p

  23. '54 Chevy and a pair of Cadillacs, '60 and '61 at Yarbrough Auro Parts on Collard Valley Rd., Cedartown GA. Both of the Caddys are rough but complete with many good parts. The Chevy is rusted out pretty bad, but still has 4 good doors and a perfect deck lid if you need those parts for a '53 or '54 Chevy. Also, it still has the complete front suspension, trans, and rear end.
