These pictures are from back in 79-80 of a car I wrenched on as a kid. It was a 1967 Corvette with a 301 GMC 6 cylinder, 3 side draft Webers on a Clifford intake, Hemi valve train, Doug nash 5 speed, Dana rear. It was a M gas National record holder with an 11:41 in 1979. When they shut down that class GM donated a new V6 to run however interst changed and the car was sold and converted to a BB chevy. This was at Maple Grove unlettered with a sound and leave everyone remembered This one was taken at Cecil County
N/Gas must have been IHRA or AHRA, to the best of my knowledge there never was an N/G in NHRA. I ran H & I and I was the bottom
It sure looks like the original car Stu Clutton built in the early 60's...He had a speed shop and used that 58 wagon to deliver parts.. That wagon was turned into a wheelstander, with a chevy motor..The dragster has been recreated, and both are currently for sale in Canada. Rick
This roadster is owned by Ralph Hope.... Also from Rydell ,Hope & Lang Anglia fame..and later R-H L vega. Both cars have been posted on here. Rick
Way cool. Would you happen to have what mag that was in? I need to find a copy. Dave LaNear's (Headers) shop was down the street where I grew up, I remember riding my bike over and seeing this car there. Another side note, I see the photo credit was Harry Kenny. Mr. Kenny lives a couple blocks from my shop and walks over and hangs out. Still into cars (and wrenching some) even thou he's in his 80's!
Twisted6<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_9251600", true); </SCRIPT> : I don't have any info, thought you might know??? That looks like the same intake you have don't it???
Some very innovative and creative idea's at work here. One of the baddest 6 cylinder cars ever was the "Preparation H" Ford of Bruce Sizemore back in the 70's. That car could run low 11's all day long without missing a beat. Jimbo
What he has there is a 3x2 set-up Mine is a 3x4 but yes the intake looks pretty close to mine , But yet vary different as far as the plenum goes and maybe a small difference it the runner design.
I do have a copy of that Hot Rod mag issue, but its not for sale. There are usually a few on eBay though. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Special Thanks sixgun for the picture of the Preparation H car. That car used to put so many small block Chevrolets back on the trailer and many of the guy's would hope someone would beat Bruce before they had to run against him. The car was a Killer back in the early 70's and won many National events turning consistent low 11's Jimbo
