A friend is building a rat rod with a 401 nail head Buick motor. He has a six /two log manifold he wants to run with 97 carburators. He wants to block off some of the carbs so the motor will run decently. For best results, should you block off all but the middle two? Or all but the outside four. We heard that the 97's are only about 150 cfm's, if only two are used, is that enough to run 401 cuib inches?

it depends on the cam and compression that the motor has, my friend has a 425 in his model a that runs on all six carbs and runs great! A log is supposed to run all of them, and don't run progressive linkage either.

I agree that the 401 could run all 6..Remember that is 900 CFM..You will need good spark, and good exhaust..A mild cam will help.. Burn it and get rid of it..
