"And your a teacher?
I would be bummed if i was in your cl*** yelling at me for this and that and being so judgemental by the way i look and what special interested i was into that didn't fit you mold as a model citizen... i feel for your students and children if you have any:(
plus who's argueing? ...i thought this was a discussion?"

You ***ume alot and take the tone of the disscusion to a nastier level everytime. You don't know me, I don't know you and then you pitty my kid? Hey buddy, I have a kid and have been through more with that kid than you will ever know or understand...and I work with kids because I love it...you have no idea what I do so you know what, you should keep you mouth shut about something you know nothing about.

I talk about experience with skaters, you ***ume I rave at kids? Im sure many will think you are so cool for showing me but man, you just said it all about yourself.

Maybe I will take this personal now Sk8ter Boi [IMG]

Whatever happened to parents "parenting"?

I would kick the living **** out of my kid if I found him tearing something up.

I learned real young the consequences of ****ing around with other peoples property.

Seems a buddy had some pop bottle rockets that had to go.

We thought it would be real cool to see how they would sound exploding in the night deposit box on the bank nearby.

Was that stupid?

I wasn't half as scared of the Hi-Po's that pulled up as I was when my mom just happened by.

Those cops felt sorry for me when she was done.

So now I am seeing some correlation between VW's and skateboards.

Lots of people have both, some don't know how to act with either.

VW's ride like skateboards...

Not reall, don't know where I was going with that, no more **** to be stirred up here anyways.

Are we all still friends?

Can we kill this one now?

RYAN! I need more super powers!!!

Mr. Caballero,

I might sell you the rims! [IMG] I am also trying to move stuff out of the way so I can take some pictures. I'm not sure yet what I want to do?

I will say this though... I will NOT sell them to anybody else until you have p***ed on them.

Fair enough? [IMG]

Rashy,

That was the problem... Many of us rebellious (tear down the establishment, starting with this fence) skater/punks were the product of dissinterested, baby-boomer parents.

Again though. The fact that it was that way isn't changed by anything that has been said in this thread. You either accept it for what it was or you create a false reality around it to make it fit some need you have. In the end it doesn't change anything.

We should have had our ears boxed... Damn kids!

What's that got to do with hot rodding? I don't know...I've never "borrowed" a hot rod, but Jason Jessee is my illegitimate brother and he has a Model A coupe!

Steve, welcome to the world famous hot rod soap opera!

Wow! you know Jason Jessee?! Whats he like, I heard he's swell!

Oh god...not the VW's again. Please not that.

Really though...I guess this is a dead horse. Cab and I don't see eye to eye. I think he is being a bit of a **** about it and claims he is "discussing" but really...let me change the tone.

Cab, the board you are auctioning off is really niffty and that is cool of you. I don't like your ***umptions about me, I think skating is sorta cool. I think you are kind of a jerk in an okay way. How is that for an olive branch? [IMG]

Really though, you might be right, I do rave a kids. They won't shut up now that they are done with their tests so I can type this and I am yelling at them...oh evil me. [IMG]

Ah heck, I am evil...kill the skaters.

****Edit: BTW Cab, for a **** you do have a cool car. Serious, I do like that car alot. [IMG]

6. "Oh yeah, Im just making it up. The laws against skaters were just created by the "man" to keep you down. Whatever man...you have blinders on. Last year over twenety thousand dollars of damage were done by skaters to the varous schools in my area from "grinding." A major shopping center with a health club was damaged by skaters...cost, another 20 grand. You are going to tell me in the 15 years that you have skated that you never once did damage to public or private property enjoying your sport? Nonsense. That would be like me saying I never raced on the streets. You guys crack me up and will not admit to the negative aspects and cry "art." I really don't have that much of an axe to grind on this. And I do realize a bunch of kids are doing this and do treat it as a sport and some may be stars at it someday, but not being able to admit the negative aspecst and the HUGE problems created by skaters in general...please. Just like the problems we have with wanna be gangsters, skinheads, gangs, and so on, we have problems with skaters. Kids, and I mean alot of kids, thinking graffiti and grinding are way "

Ok, so what? We did or still do destroy property by grinding curbs or skating someones pool while they were out. Hell its urban warfare at it finest. I dont care it was worth it and it was not my $$$ [IMG].. You say "why is there laws against it then", because some ***hole old men in suits decided to p*** laws against it. Yes thats right not very PC of me to say so, and may reflect badly, but its how I felt at the time and still do. I hope my son tears the **** out of a curb or ledge trying to grind it or rail slide, and when he does I will be proud, not because he destroyed others property but because he tried.(grind not destroy) Though destroy is cool too. [IMG]

I for one am not saying that if you didnt skate you are less of a Hot Rodder. Hell most all here are more than I am, I am learning about hot rods at a late age because I was out skating and destroying, until it hit me.(though not very good).. Yes, this topic could be taking up space that a tech could use, but dont read it then. If you dont skate or never did then why open this thread and why respond. Just chuckle and p*** it up for the next on topic thread, we wont miss your comments I promise.

I saw a freshly painted curb near my house, I think I will go hit it a few times after work, then maybe stick up some of my skate stickers on the nearest sign, just for old times sake.

Keep skateboarding a Crime!!!! I liked it beter that way...ha,ha,ha

Merc50,
If you only knew what (how much) i've been paying in taxes and the kindly ( forced) donations to our state and government every year over the past 27 years to pay your wages as a teacher, school improvements and law enforcements... i'm sure it's paid for some of those damages you noted as well:) I pay cops wages through my tax dollars to h***le me riding my skateboard... so they should feel lucky they have something to do instead of hanging out at Duncan donuts and now Starbucks all day...gives them some excitement to the job and feel they have some sort of authorty on people:)
I know that i'm guilty of grinding a curb or two in my career, but hey... in the long run, i think i've made more people smile and than frown over the years.

Now if that wasn't a make up letter I don't know what is.

You know I love you Merc, even though you are a bit of a **** in our own special way...

ERRR....YOUR own special way....

I'm determined to kill this thread...

Here is just a thought on how todays society works, it IS ****ed up on many levels for those who don't know....

I believe it is Salt Lake City that was smart enough to realize that skating is GONNA happen and why not give the kids a place to do it that would be fun and safe?

So they built a skate park, I saw it, (still not sure if it was SLC or not, been toooooo many places in too short a time) it was a COOL looking park.

I was thinking to myself, "That thing is gonna be kick *** when it is done!" Now I know they have these parks all over but give me a fricken break, I grew up in Oklahoma.

So I says to the local Site Tech I was with, "Local Site Tech, that thing is gonna be kick *** when it's done!"

He says, "Yeah. it was."

????

"What you mean?" I ask him.

He goes on to tell me that they aren't building it, they're tearing it down.

Seems some parent who probably bought their kid a board, just so the kid would go outside and the parent wouldn't have to "parent", got all pissed off when said kid came home wearing his brains.

Lawyered up, sued the city for providing such a dangerous place for the kids to play and there it goes.

I'm gonna quit bringing up the parent thing, just sick and tired of people *****ing cuz their kids can't read at 18 years old because the schools didn't do their job. Maybe the observant parent would have noticed this somewhere along the way?

Yeah, I have no kids and won't.

I'm too frickin selfish and already a hypocrite on many other levels.

Hooligan, you sure you have the right board? You sound like you need a Honda with a fart can and need to go street race! [IMG]

Yeah, I hope my kid uses you car as a jumping off point and grinds down the side of it (not really, just kidding...sort of)...but gee whiz you are just so EXTREME man!

Cab, please...not the "I pay for you job" one I get all the time....no, not that one. Yeesh.

Really though, that one ****s.

So, anyhow...on to something else. I don't think I want to continue this and waste the time.

I was serious though, I like your car, not sure about you but the car rocks [IMG]

Hotrods have internal combustion engines....cars...bikes..dragboats...not skateboards, or rollerblades or windsurfers, or kayaks, or anything human powered.

12. Merc50 - if this board is here to learn then yes I do.. Thanks for asking... I think there is a thread calling my name that Grimlock started, I am off to learn..

Since hwen did it become cool to tear up other peoples property?

I'm going to key the **** out of your car because I think it's fun, and it entertains me and keeps me out of Duncan Donuts. How cool is that?

No ****ing respect....just because it's THERE doesn't mean it's for you to play on. I can respect a skater who has tallent and who doesn't tear things up....but all the rest are just a bunch of ***holes (in that respect.)

14. Its one thing to grind a curb, its another totaly different thing and very wrong to mess with a mans car.

Thanks Merc,
I do rub people the wrong way at times (that don't understand my personality) because i don't and never "sugar coat" anything, i believe strongly about saying how it see and hear it and i'll express it, even if it does come across confrontational and rude at times to some who are sensitive in nature and feelings hurt easily... I'm just to the point...always have been. Your correct... i don't know you, but i do have a sense from your words and at***ude on a certain subject that rubs you the wrong way. I have a 7 year old daughter as well so i what what it means to bring someone up in this world. I know being a teacher can be hard ( most of the time) because you have to deal (baby sit on a daily basis) a product of parents with limited parenting skills:(
I'm sure it would be hard to be in your shoes dealing with kids that...don't focus and listen. you don't like my ***upmtions of your at***ude, neither do i like your ***umptions of our sport.
Thanks for the compliment on the coupe, i love it too:)
I agree that we disagree and that's cool with me!
best wishes,

I agree with Merc50 on the **** getting torn up, but it was typically less than 10% of the people who skated.

And as a skater, I hated it because those losers would show up and break things, and then the cops would blame me, or watch me like a hawk. I was an inline skater (you can all call me a ***** or whatever) and the campus cops in***uted a rule that you had to have 4 wheels on the ground at all times.. (meaning one foot down) I guess my rockered hockey skates were illegal..

Anyway, they'd sit and watch you.. if you jumped up in the air, or rode up on a ledge or stairs, they'd chase you down with a golf cart and write you tickets if they could catch you.

It's the bad apple syndrome at work.. the wrong people get blamed for breaking stuff, and then get pissed off even more.

As for good parenting, I'm in the same boat as Curious Rash.. Once I got caught by the cops shooting out the scoreboard lights at the football field (I guess I always thought sports ****ed, being a runt)

I got a ride home in the cop car and that was COOL.. But the vomit inducing worries of what my mom and dad were going to do to me was worse than any punishment the cops had legal power to divy out. I think I nearly got put through a wall for that one.

You didn't pay enough - teachers and cops are underpaid, and the schools are falling apart.

Yeah, cops just hang around donut shops and wait for you to do something stupid. There's no other crime out there. I hadn't heard of you when you signed up to the rousing accolaids, but you seemed to be pretty cool. Now you just seem to be an arrogant "celebrity" ***hole who looks down on people who have ordinary jobs. I know that a teacher or police officer isn't as important as a professional skateboarder who pays a lot of taxes, but they are dedicated professionals who do a service to their community.
This post shows just how professional you are. Sad... [IMG]

This has become a pretty weird thread. I guess I prefer to see the connection between racers and hot rodders. Especially drag racers. Hooligan's last comment is so the opposite of the racers ethic. Drag racers will get beat with a part they lent to a compe***er and smile about it. He's talking about missing with someones stuff and leaving a ****ed up deal for somebody else. The at***ude is the difference between roller derby/NASCAR and Drag racing/LSR. One group is always sticking their finger in the other guys eye or giving an elbow to the ribs. The other group is after the pure pursuit of speed/time. Gotta admire the commitment of the skater though, he's willing to shed blood and skin in pursuit of his p***ion. But if you want to grind somebody's property then you should be willing to endure the nightstick, the buckshot and the dog bites. And expect ridicule and no sympathy if you whine about your wounds. You've made me look at skaters in a new light, Hooligan. I hope you have a minority view…

So Cab, do you ever do any of those tours that go to schools? About ever other year they come to our school with a big fold out half pipe and do a display...maybe I have seen you at one of those?

We tossed some harsh words but I think I like the fact you can talk **** and not hold a grude...I never welcomed you to the HAMB before...welcome now.

Anyhow...hope this post dies soon.

And Hooligan...you are a Hooligan. [IMG]

I don't look down on anyone and i guess my sarcasm does come across well with you Mutt. I actually appreciate anyone who has "a job"... no matter what it is and i have always respected them in more ways than you know.
Sorry if i'm sarcasm came at you in a wrong way, i know that that's no what cops do all day long:) I but i won't lie, i have donated lots to this world by paying my taxes to help pay for things that get ruined or destroyed on a daily usage, whether it be legal or not! If cops are teachers are underpaid i can't help that and my donated tax dollars are going to the wrong funds:( I think everyone in this world is just as important than the next, so don't get me wrong and i respect people with authority, but sometimes they take it just a little to far and talk about arrongant...give someone with some sort of authority and let's see the arrongance flow:) My posts and replies are not meant to put people down or demeaner, but a little joke here and there can lighten things up a bit...sorry for the confusion if there was any:(
let's get back to learning about Cars!

22. no, no.. I was upset thats all. I do not think destroying someelses property is a good thing. But a city curb?? I was wrong on saying who cares not my$$, I can amdmit that. when we were kids this was our view though. I am alot older now and can see others point of view, I can also amdmit when I was wrong. However I dont go around and see a kid skating and say see that there whipper snapper he is destroying property. To me destroying property is like breaking out windows or messing with anothers house or vandalizing with spray paint, but grinding a curb, I just dont see it. I think there is a fine line here, dont let my words affect you my actions are different, again I am not a youngin anymore.

Good God Cab, I mentioned your name in my cl*** to a couple of skater kids and they just about wet themselves wanting to know if I know you or something. I mentioned you were on a traditional hot rod board and they are all like "whats a traditional hot rod?" Anyhow, one of them is having a hard time doing his school work because I mentioned you. What a strange world sometimes...maybe I should hit you up for an autograph to hang in the cl*** [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
