Am I the only one that wonders what I like better when I take off my skirts to clean my caps and tires, skirts or no skirts? Wish I had some photos to compare but Im not exactly at my house at the moment to be able to take one to compare. Before I left for Afghanistan I detailed the shit out of the olds and put it up in the garage until I return. After I took all the hub caps off and skirts I cleaned the caps and tires. I ended up having to take her into town real quick and didnt get a chance to put the caps or skirts back on and noticed it really had a different look, kind of more sinister looking without the skirts and caps. Ive noticed that I only like the look of no skirts as long as there is not a full hub cap on. Dont know which I like better on my car yet though. I do tend do drive alot faster and raise hell when the caps and skirts are off, why this is im not sure haha. When the caps and skirts are on I mostly cruise and relax with her. This is probably a pointless post but I just wondered if anyone else does this haha. Those of you that know me, know I'm very picky when it comes to the overall look of an automobile. I will say Stance, Wheels/Tires, and paint really makes or breaks the look of a car. I seem to always find my self arguing with what I like better, the sinister no caps or skirts look or the skirts and caps cruiser look. They both look bad ass to me so guess im stuck haha. Heres a photo with caps and all, like I said if I was home i'd post another to compare, it really looks like a different car with out them. Just goes to show the simplest things can change your whole look. Just excuse this post if it seems like I'm rambling on, the lack of car guys to talk to over here is taking its toll haha.
Yep it's a very tough decision! I have a cure though . Buy another olds and run one with skirts and one without . Lol. I think it looks great either way. Beautiful car!!! Thanks for your service too!
Just take 1 skirt off....then, if the cops are chasing you, just turn around and they will think its someone else.....lol I think that car looks better with the skirts, but thats just my opinion
That car does not need a sinister look. It's far too elegant to take the caps and skirts off. Leave it! Now maybe a new tail light treatment or a some other early 50's custom touches would be nice but it's nice as is!
@matthew I would like a '50 olds Thanks! @stroker Yeah I like it both ways really wish I had a pic of it without, sounds stupid but really changes the overall look or maybe I'm just really missing my car right now haha
Your car is too original and very nice looking. I say run with the skirts and find a set of original wire wheel covers.
@JeffreyJames Yeah but she has to show her bad girl side at times, shes not always a lady And yes more things will come custom wise, but they will be very very tasteful... If the tail lights change then the handles are gone becuase the design of the handles match the taillights so id have to have all or change both. Im almost too picky to change things that I already like, I like the design of the car and everything on it so it will really take something perfect that really flows for me to change it. I've been brainstorming on what I'd like to change for a while but being I really like how everything flows its been a bit difficult, but it will come to me.
I have the same sickness. Just dont know which way to go. You know what they say when you go both ways???? Larry

Sure miss it.
Ha Ha! Hey roddin, when you compare the two pictures the one on the left looks like you parked it in The Bronx somewhere and it got stripped!
@waddayacare To each their own, but I can not stand wire wheel covers... although I do appreciate your input sir! I have another set of caps I'm bidding on, on ebay so we'll see if i win. My Grandpa runs those original wires on his '57 Tbird, looks classy but just not my cup o' tea
@roddinshack Definitely skirts being that its a convertable it just doesnt look right without the caps and skirts. Looking good man! Seeing other cars is maybe helping me here, I am a little more toward the caps and skirts side but I wont say that I dont like it the other way too on mine I will say I love the floating grills I see alot of but I dont see me changing mine much. That front end I really love so doubt that will change much.
Anyone have any photos of my body style olds with the running lights under the headlights shaved? I think it would clean up the front end a bit to get rid of those lights and run a cleaner looking bezel around the lights or maybe french them a bit. Any photos with something done to the headlights I'd like to see if anyone has... Thanks
Nethercutt's '52 olds front end is nice... I'd like to do something like that with my headlights... like the custom slim parking lights under these lights
Whatever your mood, both looks are right on so use the option on which way you go that day! Stay safe in the "STAN" 5's and 25's saved my butt many times in my time in Iraq! Find the POO and don't be near the POI!
Thanks for the input guys... I tend to start threads and get side tracked on another subject... now im getting excited about making the frontend flow a little better by changing the look of the headlights... really loving that photo I posted of the headlights on the Nethercutt '52 olds
