I'm running a cross leaf on the rear of my 22 dodge, I wasn't sure of the pros and cons of 4 link and 2 link. My chassis is fairly short and the body is heavily channeled. thanks
Here's quite a good thread that covers most of what you want http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=222 I've got others if you want more but I think this covers most of it. Pete
Basically a split wishbone spread and mounted to the frame turns the rear axle into sort of a sway bar. if one wheel attempts to move up or down the other wheel is forced to do the same. The twisting action is what finds the weak part and usually it will break there. If it is built strong enough it will just lift or drop the other side forever. This will not give as comfortable ride as a four link type car. A four link type car will allow one side of the rear end to move without moving the other side, softer ride and nothing is in a bind. The lenght of the links is not very important in a four link ,the uppers and lowers can be different as long as the are the same side to side. A good rule of thumb on setting up four links is have the upper and lower bars imaginary line's meet at the bottom of the front tire. Best of luck
