That's it in a nutshell, Skoty... do the best you can and take pride in what you do.

I used to be a "perfectionist" and I couldn't even enjoy what I was doing, always trying for absolute perfection and being frustrated when I couldn't measure up to my own standards. One day I heard a sermon on that subject and basically what the preacher said was... "What's wrong with Excellence?" Sounds the same at first, but it's not. It's not a sin to take pride in what we do, but it's wrong to put that pride above everything else. (That's exactly what I was doing)
Anyhow... with a new outlook, I strive for excellence and I enjoy each and every job I do. What a relief to know that there was only One who was/is perfect... and He's the only One that ever will be!

    Keep on keepin' on, brother!

Well on my sheetmetal i like using my lincoln 180 machine, on my frame work or heavier metal im using a esab 253 mig master.
As far as how i set up for my beads is first and far most the prep, everything should be very clean, i bevell everything. As im welding im really watching the metal flow. As far as setting go, it will vary from welder to welder. One tip i can give is that if your weld is looking pointy your going to fast. You will have to slow down but may have to make adjustments on the welder so your not creating more heat then needed. Im very sure theres a ton of different ways of doing stuff. This is what works best for me.

As far as sheet metal goes, if your gonna mig in your panel you really need to be carefull. With mig theres not a ton of room for shaping because you run the chance of cracking the weld if your hammer dolly on it because it is a brittle weld. Its very tough to try to shape a panel that has been mig together. The way im doing it is having the panel or piece as perfect as can be going in. You can work with it, you just gotta becareful. Most ideal way is to tig your panel because it is softer. When im grinding i use a 36 grit hard stone and get 80% of the weld ground off, i then use a 36 grit 2" roloc disc and get the weld flush to the panel/ piece or what ever it is. Then i switch to a 80 grit 2" roloc to blend in the panel. When grinding down your welds really try to concentrate on grinding the weld and not the panel. You dont want to take material away from the panel itself. Also when blending you can leave marks because as your doing that it is taking a small amount of material away. If you stay light on your hands everything should go smooth and look nice when done. Dont rush and also watch for not heating up the metal as your grinding it also. I hope this kinda helps out. This is what works for me.

Awww, you're sweet. :D Jeffy James turned me on to the serious stuff you're doing and I've been hooked ever since. I suck at welding, although I do have over four hours experience. I love seeing fellers like you doing metal finished welds where it looks like no welds at all. And style too, don't forget style. You've got the magic eye.

I should be thanking you (wait, I already did, lol). You can thank me by continuing to share that killer work!

Thanks buddy, the bike was built for a sweet little girl named scarlet for the scarlet fever show to help benefit her needs and raise money to fight rett syndrome. The bike has no peddles so when she is on it they won't hit here shins.

We did the interior in the back of this 63 riv. nothing fancy, just clean and simple. hiding behind these panels are a full air ride set up with 2, 5 gal tanks, 2 compressors and 8 valves.
