slamming the 42 chevy

  1. I have a 1942 chevy special deluxe. I want to drop it down in the weeds but I don't want to use a late model IFS set up. I was wondering how low you can get using the stock suspension on the 41-48 chevys. I want to keep the 6 lug bolt pattern because I want to keep the original wheels but im not sure this is possible since I want to get rid of the inclosed drive shaft. Is there a 6 lug open drive line rear axle that will fit under my sedan? Im not opposed to running drum brakes to keep my bolt pattern. Im not even sure if disc brakes are compatible with the stock wheels...
    Thanx...

Stepped lower control arms. Dropped uprights. Shorter coils. You could have a later rear end re-drilled for your bolt pattern. Add sway bars someday.

lots of trucks used the same bolt pattern. Chevrolet trucks, Toyota 4WD's from the 80's as well as Datsun pickups. not sure if any of those rears would work.

  4. Yeah, I had thought about finding a truck rear and but I was not sure if the width was gonna be an issue. I know that you can use early 50s car spindles and get the 5×4.75 bolt pattern (witch would make life alot easier) but I have the stock wheels and hub caps and they are in great shape...
I have a blazer rear end that I was thinking could be narrowed... but it might me easier to have one re-drilled for the bolt pattern I need
