Nice!!! I just added a 1937 Dodge sedan to the stable. Previous owner swapped in a Slant from a 68 Cuda'. I am thinking of upgrading it to put out some power but have yet to look into it!

Looks cool...how's it run with the 3 carbs through the adapter?

  6. Well it runs pretty good, it'll fry the tires, but I know it's not running up to it's ability, because I keep chewing up distributor gears before I can drive it very far.

  7. How my stock 225 used to look... Will have updated pictures hopfully later this month or next. To be completely rebuilt & hot rodded!

Just added a few new toys to the slant pile. The blue engine along with the Hilborn set up I have been searching for for the last 12+ years! The red engine is an early 170 that was run in a Porsche around the NorthWest in the 60's and/or 70's in SCCA racing. It has an Isky 505-A cam, custom triple Weber 45 intake, custom dry sump system, custom headers, 8" VW clutch, adapter plate for a Porsche trans and Joe Hunt magneto. Both engines have fully ported and big valved heads.

The Hilborn unit is the piece that I have been looking for. It is #101, the very first Hilborn injection unit ever made for a slant six. It is the same one that was "loaned" out to the Dragmaster team and ran on the Dragmaster Dart Six rail.

As an aside - with referance to above & single weber - I've a single weber side draft alloy intake going unused in the collection , If anyone in USA offers enough Folding happy to ship over , its near mint.

not sure if its ok to mention but new kid here ...

did a stock car (oval track racing in the dirt) Cyl head years ago (ported, multiangle valve job, severely milled ) & blew the bottom end out of the eng , once a well worked engine in Australia in 1960's & '70's , one car called a "Pacer" had a factory Cam, 2bbl carb & hotter cam , with option of afb equipped 4bbl
    A rorty engine...

Sounds sort of like a Clark Cortez motorhome intake. They used a front wheel drive slant six and had a single side draft carb.

Can you post pics of the slant goodies?

  19. Hilborn intake is amazing and I can't wait to see the whole car together!

Anyone know why they leaned it over to the right vs left,I understand getting a lower hood but why not lean it left were it would of helped out in stockcar racing vs it was a dud.

Willem Weertman (the designer of the slant six) lives a few miles away from me and I was lucky enough to have lunch with him a few years ago with some other local slant six geeks and when asked the same question we were told it was just so it would clear the hood in the A-bodies, no other reason. It was leaned to the passenger side to clear steering and master cylinder.

  23. You've had lunch with Willem... You have a hillborn intake /6 your putting in a bantam body....I'm turning green up here come on! Seriously though, have you started on a frame yet? Decided on a wheelbase? Trans? Rear? It hurts but I gotta know.

This pic 1393011176900.jpg is all I can offer to this group.

I have a shaved-head slanny (milled .100" and stocker pistons= 9:1 ish) with Offy 2x1 bbl intake and Clifford header. Pic above is the Clifford intake that is now on the shelf.

    Hahaha.

Going full tube, not sure how long but it will be short and the engine will sit high, not sure on trans, rear will be a 8 3/4 because I have one already. Im just now in the collecting parts and research stage. I have a few other projects in line (72 Yamaha chopper, 64 Triumph chopper, chopped 50 Chrysler a bathroom remodel and my wife has her custom 48 aerosedan that also has a slant with a Lynx intake) so it might be a bit before the car sees the track but when it does I will be shooting for the mid 9's on alcohol, no turbo, no n.o.s.!
In 1964 the Dragmaster dart six rail was turning 10.30 in the 1/4 with a pretty stock 904 and converter. With trans/cam technology now there is no reason that a slant in a strip only car can't be atleast one second faster than they were in 64 without a dumb turbo or other honda power adders like n.o.s.

Well guys I don't have any good pics but I have a story about a /6 , I was trying to be a good big brother and get my younger brother his first car didn't have much cash to work with I found him a 1973 duster with a 225 in it figured he couldn't brake it nor could he kill him self in it well, to my surprise he blew the /6 up he ran it 4.5 at low on oil and maybe had a 1/4 gal of antifreeze in it, there tough but they can be destroyed sadly I pulled it and I had a rebuilt 318 hanging around so in it went
The 225 is in line to become a coffee table when I get time

I see a couple guys here put a single weber 32/36 on them... isn't that a bit small? that's what I ran on my 2.0 Datsun motor which is half the size if the 225.
