Sleeve a busted 409 cylinder?

    My dad tore into his 409 and found it has a busted cylinder. Water got into the motor and froze....it pushed a piece of the cylinder wall back into the water jacket. [​IMG]

    Can this be fixed with a sleeve?

    Probably.
    Before going too far,I would get the rest of the block checked.
    Dye penetrant,or Magnaflux.
    If one place is cracked,there is a chance there is more damage.

    Yeah, it can be fixed. Lamar Walden in Doraville, GA (just north of ATL) told me you can put a bunch of sleeves in a block and it'll be fine. He's been doing everything 409 since they were new (including casting his own aluminum heads and intakes).
    770-449-0315 if you want to call him. He's busy, and expensive, but I doubt anyone else in the country knows what he does about them.
