    Hello All,

I have a slip yoke for my 64 comet 202 that has been whittled down about 1mm on a good 4 inch patch in the center of the yoke. I have a bad vibration and leak.

Obviously time for a new slip yoke, the problem is I cannot find one in the exact size I have now.

How exact do the slip yokes have to be?
I have found one with the right spline count, diameter, overall length only about 1/2" longer, correct cap diameter, but the U joint to U joint measurement is 2.5" on mine and the one I have found is 2 5/8.

Please advise how close these things have to be to original, and if variation in overall length is an issue, and if variation in C length is an issue.

The link is the one I am looking a buying.

Thank you but these are all 28 spline and I have a 25.

I havent found an exact match yet after about 5 hours of online searching and calling my local driveline shop who reported "A ford 2.77 3 on the tree transmission does not and never has existed"

  5. The extra length probably won't be a problem, and as to the yoke width, Ford used two types of u-joints. One type used internal snap rings and the other external rings and would be a slightly wider yoke. Check to see if this is the difference...

Does the U joint you have on the car, use C clips on the caps, or the full circle clips inside the yoke? It makes a difference.

My 65 Comet 6cyl 3 spd [2.77] stick had a 25 spline...I just went and measured the yoke I have, its 2-1/2 outside, about 1-11/16 inside and 4" long at diameter..Snap rings go on inside..Maybe ACP measured wrong? But if its for outside snap rings then it would be just about right..

    Hello guys,

Thank you for your reponses, I was wondering about the tailshaft bushing as well. If you agree that I should change it then I will to avoid future problems. I really like this car.

Thats the EXACT YOKE I NEED, 1 3/8 barrel outside diameter?

I have inside snap rings. My yoke is technically 7 5/8 long but the odd part is the last 3 inches or so of yoke length is just an empty tube with no splines.

    howmuch canadian dollars?

Last 3" hollow for a seal, usually auto trans..OD is worn some [about .012] but if you know a machinist it can be turned to smooth and an bushing made for the tailshaft to fit...You figure out shipping cost [you not gonna like it] and then we can discuss how much...
