I hate to complain, but over the past week it has gotten slower and slower. I can't even get on through AOL anymore, all I get is
    "504 Gateway Timeout
This Web page could not be opened. There may be too many people accessing this page or the page may be unavailable. Please try again later. "
I am able to get in using Netscape running outside of AOL, but it takes up to a minute or longer to pull up a post. Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem or just me...getting kinda frustrated here...(but I'm used to it, been married 10 years now!)

    Thanks.....Brian

I've experienced the same thing. The new HAMB was much faster for me until recently. I have logged on from different locations and it is considerably slower at each. Thanks, Dan

Yeah Brian, I think Ryan may need to do a little more tweaking on the system when he gets time. I have comcast cable and have had several pages timed out the last few days. Usually with only 50 or 60 people on the board. I thought it might have been my 'puter but I guess not. You coming up north again for the Gas City run this summer? We'll see you there if you do.

same problem out here. Running MSN Broadband and it can take up to 50 seconds or so to generate a page. Makes it frustsrating as hell.

i have bailed on the H.A.M.B since the new move. i was so pissed at first that i didn't surf for weeks. i decided to check it out this morning, only to find everyone still jacked about the new H.A.M.B. i haven't given enough time to learn the new stuff, mainly cuz it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

Sounds like we're all getting the same problem... the sucker is moving so fast it times out and gives an error. I get it all the time now... some days it's a bit faster, but usually it's slow as can be. Any idea where the server is and how it's connected?

Hey fellas - I hear your pain and am working on it. The problem lies in a lack of ram in my server. When the board is loaded with folks, it swaps to disk and really slows shit down. It took me a while to figure out what was happening but I got it licked now.

The solution? We gotta move to another hosting company. I am planning on doing this next month or the month after - just depends on money.

Ryan, what kind of money do you need generated to help out.. I think we can get you support from the board to help you out, no reason for you to foot all the bill.. Speed cost money whether its a hot rod or a computer

ryan, there is nothing wrong with user supported boards. i pledge to my local NPR station with pride and glee. well, maybe not ..glee, but you know what I mean. Its something I use all often and could NEVER expect commercial media to provide. The same goes for the H.A.M.B. Lets take care of this speed problem before gray hair sets in waiting for the next post. [IMG]
This board is obvously of value to many of us.(who in the long run, will probably do it for the rest)Tghere is certainly a movement to help, take us up on it.

I'm experiencing the same problem. Sometimes I just leave the computer and come back to find it still hasn't gone to whatever I've clicked on.
Ryan, how about sharing what the cost is going to be to make it faster. I'm sure you could get some help from some of us here.

Mine has gotten real slow at time's too. Most of the time when it happens it dosn't open the page i wanted. All i get is "page connot be opened, try again". This can happen like 4 outta 10 times i try to open a page.
I'm not bitchin' about it, i still come and hang out a while every day.
To be honest, i'm just glad i'm not the only one.I thought it was my computer...

Ryan, thanks....I hope my comment didn't come across as complaining. Ok guys, the boss has spoken....we need a RAM infusion. I'll see what goodies I can dig up for an auction tomorrow..also don't forget the "dollar donation" as well.

    Thanks,
    Brian

I've been having similar problems. Frequently get message "Page not available . Hit refresh button. or hit back button " Sometimes after going thru that drill a couple or three times the post will finally come up. I don't have this problem on other sites.

I have found lately it is much easier to visit the HAMB first thing in the morning, EST, while at work, while the west coast folks are still in bed. [IMG]

  16. I'm getting the same thing. Also, if i'm trying to open a post it will dump me to that 504 thing(or whatever it is) and then i have to start all over again only to get dumped again. Yeah, it's pretty frustrating, but i get dumped whenever i try to bitch about it. I think THAT part is planned. HAHA!
