Slop in Helix Column

    I just installed a new Helix tilt column in my Merc,it,s a floor shift with the key on the dash and it has to much up and down play.Has any one used these columns and is this normal

    Probably normal for cheap Chinese columns. My condolences for buying it. Replace it with a safe US made column. These also have turn signal switch failures frequently.

    You have about three choices. See if they will make it good and replace the column. Take it apart and see if you can tighten up the screws that hold the tilt mechanism.
    On GM tilts those screws come loose quite often and have to be tightened. That is usually due to someone like my 4' 10" tall wife pulling them selves up with the steering wheel to reach the shifter or the key switch.

    The other option Is to bite the bullet and pull the thing out an put one in from a manufacture with better quality and quality control.

    Helix is another one of the DBA's used by Hoffman Group. You're probably stuck with it, sorry man. Too many bad experiences happening to too many good people, all based on expensive magazine ads! :mad:

    Bite the bullet and buy a Flaming River or Ididit.
