got a 1969 f-100 with the 240 inline six and 3 speed manual on the column. the shifter is really sloppy. i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how i could tighten things up a bit and make it shift better. or does anyone know if i could convert it to a floor shifter or something?

new column or a 3 speed floor shift will do it.

I would guess that bushings in the linkage are worn out. If you have a shop manual, try to look up a schematic and see if they're replaceable.
