    Hi guys.

Let's say you want to slowly turn an engine over, (with a manual transmission), and you want to turn a rear wheel to turn over the engine. Does it change anything if you have a limited slip differential? Do you need to anchor the wheel that you're not turning in order to turn the driveshaft/crankshaft? Or should you jack up both rear wheels?

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

<font color="green">You will have to anchor the other wheel, maybe just leave it on the ground?

You will notice the other wheel will spin the opposite direction and that will be it.

Not sure this is the best way to turn one over though.

What are you trying to do?

I had a buddy call me over to help him turn one over once. He said he was having "a hell of a time" getting it to turn with a breaker on the crank bolt.

I got over there and noticed he was doing it with all the plugs in.

We took all the plugs out and it turned easily.

That would be with an open rear end. With a posi both wheels will turn the same way, and if you leave one on the ground you'll have to overcome the spring tension of the posi unit.

Another option would be jack up the car and put a long screwdriver through the rear yoke to use as a lever, then it does'nt matter what kind of rearend you've got!
