Anyone know how far you can remove the extension housing before dropping the roller bearings? Was hoping to drag it back just a bit to access the snap ring an release the shaft so I could leave it in place and replace my speedo drive gear without having to pull the ******. I'm not lazy and I know the right way would be to pull the ****** but it's fire season and I'd like to minimize the time the truck is disabled while making repairs. (We're living in a tinderbox) If it can't be done I'll wait till it starts raining and just use GPS in the meantime.

You need to ask this on the main forum.

Sorry if this is the wrong place, I'll put it on the main forum as soon as I figure that out.
    Thank you

    What is SM318?
Are you sure you need to pull the tailshaft to change the speedo gear?

Yes the drive gear is on the tailshaft, the driven gear (pencil gear) is the one you can change from outside. But right now I'm still trying to find the main forum to repost this question.
